44871 heading back for Christmas today

 

Thinly disguised as the Polar Express locomotive No. 1225, Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 No. 44871 approaches Hartford some 40 minutes late on 24th December 2025 whilst on a positioning move from WCR Southall to the East Lancs Railway.

Driving home for Christmas, with a cold easterly wind blowing across , 44871 passes Rugeley North jnc heading back to the East Lancs Railway and a well deserved rest after Christmas charter and Polar Express duties out of London. Merry Christmas to everyone on Nat Pres.
