Booked on this quite recently and see today steam comes off at Doncaster not York. Any idea why?

Last year it was due to platform renewal works at York. As these are completed, I'm not sure why they've changed it. Don't think I'll be booking now.

The people who run 60019 don't seem to like going over 300 miles in a day. What I don't like is the way the trips get advertised and then changed about a week before the tour date. This is really unsatisfactory and needs to be stopped. We pay enough for these trains and should get what is originally advertised.

The steam mileage on the tour has increased slightly due to the change of steam section from 300 to 308. Gather the change removes the need to run L.E back from Peterborough to London. I completely agree with palace gates that the constant change to the advertised routing at these late stages is not good enough and needs to be removed from the current tour scene. This is the same with RTC's Pembroke trip with the return routing being changed for no apparent reason.

I'd imagine wear and tear and long days for support crews most likely.

I agree with other posters however, faffing about with an intinery a week before a run is bad form, even more so during a recession, the death of PTR shows it is not a time for making customers grumble.

Hopefully Bittern will make the trip to York and back on the 25th and it is cheaper than the White Rose. I suppose the addition of the 2nd water carrier will cut the need for 2 stops for water each way thus reducing time. I agree that these late changes are very poor form.

And, usually, for reasons completely outside the control of the tour organiser. If only we could have a railway run by railwaymen again!

Don't count on fewer water stops reducing time as water stops are also used as pathing stops and these will have to be made somewhere even if water isn't needed.

Not to sound naive.. But what about having 60019 couple on the train further up if a run to York is what people want?

Becuse not only will you be paying a hire fee for one loco , you would be paying for two locos which would increase the ticket prices dramaticly id imagine.

If all goes well on Tuesday (tomorrow) I may have some cash coming my way so may go to the NVR Rail mail gala. See 60019 on the mainline ect. First time I would see steam on the ECML for 4 years!
How is photography at Peterborough, the staff don't mind it?
