I'm a bit jinxed with "Scots Guardsman" and the weather, today was no exception.

Scarborough bound this morning in glorious technidullour!

Homeward bound in lovely weather but no exhaust!

After driving through a thunderstorm I arrived at Giggleswick in bright sunshine to see Scots Guardsman heading for home.

Yes, I work near Burnley and from 3:30 it was like night, it was heavy rain in Hellifield until 5 mins before arrival then no rain past Long Preston - climate change at is best

Considering this was another 'secret' run it's surprising the number of people who captured it somewhere en route...

A couple of people at Hellifield were making reference to a helicopter following thr train between Leeds and Scarborough - some thoguht is was for a tv commerical possibly for the Scarborough Spa - not sure if this is true or not though

Must have been standing next/near to you on the leaving Hellifield shot. Was the "near Otterburn" shot taken on the return? It seems a good place to capture Leander on the KWVR shuttles at the weekend' been looking on google earth & os maps for the position.

    John

**EDIT** - must have been on the return - no way could you be in the two places for the distance apart & speed of the moving train.

Well they did still have 5 miles to travel and they'll no doubt have to perfrom some form of shunt once they get in so it's not really suprising at all?

Fire to the needs of your engine not to a plan or location, something like that anyway.

You must appreciate that being 5 miles from the depot does not mean the day is over, there would probably be some stock movements perhaps in readiness for the next outing, then the loco would maybe be turned, watered and coaled before finally clearing the fire and emptying the ash pan.
