The above video reminded me so much of the first time I saw main line steam: that too was 60007 and an immaculate rake of carmine and cream Mk. 1s. I felt like I had been transported back in time.

Sir Nigel Gresley at full chat just north of Newark Flat Crossing yesterday morning. "Shovelling white steam over her shoulder". No gradient to speak of and 5 late, but SNG has just crossed a border of sorts - that's if you accept that the River Trent divides the North of England from the South.....

Don't judge me, but have been thinking about trying this shot, off the viaduct at Chester le Street Northbound, for quite a while.

2 minutes earlier there was no sun, then it came out a fubarred it, used my insta360 camera, and learned a lesson for next time.

Well, I've learned a new word today. Don't know what fly fishing has got to do with it though!

I managed to get to Heaton North Loop for the re-watering stop and snapped this effort as it set off again.

Any ideas what the Mk2A was there for on the rear as only a few people seemed to be occupying it when it left York?

The trip around the Forth Circle today was advertised as an optional trip, with bookings available for those not booked on the overall tour. I suspect a combination of numbers from both the overall tour and individual bookings today has merited the need for extra coaches, simpler to keep in the rake over the weekend that involve separate movements to and from Edinburgh.

That was the "standard class" carriage. Probably sold based on it being the RMB not a tso. I suspect it will be full today as Jonathan saysm
