Painted number is 30506. Back in the day (as the saying is) the men would have referred to it as 506.

We visited on Tuesday for the Wizard event. Excellent work by all involved in creating a very enjoyable experience. The railway was very busy. We joined the long queue at the T-junction at Ropley for some very tasty chips and sausage rolls.
I think we found all of the Rats in the Harry Potter carriage.
30506 and 41312 were in very good form on the two Wizard Express services. The final run out of Alton with the S15 was a spirited charge up the bank with a wonderful soundtrack coming from the goods engine.

Some say that’s the last person to see a Bournemouth Belle at Medstead, all we know is that he doesn’t feel the cold!

Ivatt day today.

 

It was exam time atop the yesterday - not for us, but for some of the troublesome trucks that have now come back into Bennett's!

There were just four hardy souls in attendance, and besides wagon exams, there were other things on the to-do list as we await our next victim......

The tar wagon, was first up for an exam & as per usual, the axleboxes were full of water. and being drop boxes, it helped with the draining of water.

A couple of box vans also had 6 monthly's, on top of that, the QMB is currently stopped with a full set of duff buffers, and there is a desire to get it back into traffic asap.......

We have a motley collection of Oleo's in the yard, but we have a full set of four that we know a good to use as they were destined for pasture new, but never went, for one reason or another, so after measuring up, Muggin's 'Ere and Me Oppo, nipped down to Ropley to check on the bolt spacing's on the QMB...... needless to say they're different to what we've got!

The powers that be have been informed of our findings and proposed solution to the problem, and we await their response.....

Now you know why we call them troublesome trucks, because nothing is ever straight forward with them!

Time was also taken to extricate the custom tarp that used to be on the BY many moons ago, and is now wanted by the midweek guys, presumably for the model railway PMV which is due in for some TLC... it wasn't an easy task given it's weight, location and the way in which it had been folded - but it's now easy to get at.

Anyway, @Nick C & @Stinch it was good to see you both and have a quick chat.

Reading the Swanage thread and there is mention of a tender swap involving Wadebridge. Anyone got any info?

 

Posted by someone I put on ignore a long time ago. Not worth worrying about.

" We have discussed a tender swap to enable 34007 Wadebridge to take up Main Line duties - a minimum 5500 gallon tender being essential. It's not clear whether this will go ahead, though some of our supporters would be happy to see 34070 or 34072 running with a high-sided tender."

Didn’t think Wadebridge was going mainline anymore anyway.

 

I would just be nice to see 34007 working between Alresford and Alton again.

It’s getting on for ten years since 34007 last steamed on the MHR. Looking forward to seeing 34007 back in action again in the near future. Here’s a photo of 34007 Wadebridge back in June 2014
