There you have it - Warner Bros buy 45491 from Loughborough, complete the restoration and paint it red for more Hogwarts

There have been far worse ideas ...... like taking a perfectly repairable Hall, stripping it and stuffing it in a Japanese theme park.

Helps, I suppose, if you've read of the HP books - which I haven't.
So, thanks for the explanation - although I'd never have thought of Imelda Staunton taking on that role.

Harry Potter is not very popular in Glenfinnan anymore. I wonder if this location will be used again for the TV series or they are going to use all new locations?

Details of the TV series are still being released.
Does sound like the National Trust will setup a park and ride (by train or bus) which with the right publicity will solve the Glenfinnan problem and make some money for the local area.

I'd assume new locations, given 6989 is not mainline registered like 5972 was, unless it was fitted with the equipment during it's repaint.

I saw some pictures of a Kings Cross set being built at Leavesden a little while back, so probably rules out using the real station.

Finally we get to see Wightwick Hall in her new red livery. Who saw come back home for a few weeks after her first filming session for the new Harry Potter TV series, where she’ll be playing the role of the Hogwarts Express loco.

I believe shots of the train at speed will be done at Old Dalby test track so no need for mainline gubbins. Then various other bits filmed at Kings Cross overnight and on a sound stage. Footage from the films can't be reused as it is a different format and would stick out like a sore thumb.

Bit of an identity crisis going on there for the Hall. 6989 on the cab and 6869 (Resolven Grange number) on the smokebox door.
According to the BRC facebook page the number plate was swapped around for a joke.

The loco on set seems to have been numbered 5977, to add to the confusion.

The background-projected scenery (added digitally in post-production these days) was apparently filmed months ago on the West Highland and Kyle lines, from an HST with windows removed.

Recall that the S160 is more of a "Polar Express" locomotive than many options being used. Noting that the American licences are held by Warner Brothers I think past experience has shown that they will protect the product(s) and heritage lines may be faced with conditions that they may find untenable - if not unacceptable to UK practice.
