They have said on Facebook that ASHINGTON No 5 is visiting. Hopefully, NEWSTEAD will also be working. Those are the two locos I’m interested in, but I guess the line up wll also include some, or all, of 80080, 6880, 42777, 90775 and the 2 Austerities.

Thanks Malc, just so we can plan the weekend to a degree, 90775 big bruiser is a favourite of mine, like the smooth simplicity of the lines. Ashington 5 is certainly a vocal machine when driven right! No doubt the railway will add to the website shortly

Website says 6 steam locos planned to be running each day from a roster of 6880, 13809, 90775, 4277, No. 18, Ashington No. 5 and Newstead. Trains running from 0925 to 1715, timetables to come.

Went to the N.N.R. festival of steam gala on 29 Aug to go ride behind the 2 hudswell wissington and Newstead clarke locos the Hunslet 18 and 90775 and the S.&D.J.R. 58309 very enjoyable day albeit the weather been a bit dank and dismal giving us much needed rain.
I cycled to Doncaster for a early train to Peterborough through to Norwich from my flat and couldent make it so had to get a uber taxi from wombwell to Donny due to not giving myself enough time to ride there trusting a E.T.A. on google maps which was not correct. Here are some pics of the locos except 6880 betton grange: 20250829_134603.jpg 20250829_095539.jpg 20250829_113449.jpg

Paid a visit to the gala yesterday.

I don’t expect to be able to change trains at Holt, however I do at Sheringham. Unfortunately the 4/6 minute allowance between arriving & departing was regularly not kept throughout the day. I appreciate that if the timetable is behind it’s an easy way to gain back time, but a half hour wait both ends of the line is less than ideal for passengers.

Despite this it was a good day & nice variety of bigger & industrial locomotives, with something always moving.

Coverage of the North Norfolk Railway 50th Anniversary Gala on Saturday and Sunday (30th and 31st August) - featuring Newstead, Wissington, 22, 4277, 6880 and 13809. An excellent event, as usual, and highly recommended! Lots of activity, great variety in the range of locomotives and carriage sets, good sounds, friendly staff and volunteers, well organised, pleasant scenery and good weather.......

Made my first ever visit to the railway. A brilliant 3 days. Particularly went to see 13809 for the first time since I was a kid. Looking good in LMS livery, just how I remembered her. The line is immaculate, and great to ride. The stations full of atmosphere, with lovely walks overlooking the railway. At just over £50 for an advance 3 day rover, must be one of the best value galas. Thanks to all who made it possible.

Some photos from Sunday of the Gala. The morning non-stop run by 6880 was fantastic to witness at Weybourne.
