All the railway has to do is respond to any issues professionally and politely. It’s not always easy but a well run organisation has nothing to fear from complaints, you just answer them and move on.

This comment is incredibly foolish, naming people (even by family name only) publicly like this is likely to cause more trouble than keeping your mouth firmly shut.

There have been instances in the past of other railways having hostile neighbours keep an eye on preservation forums like this one and using what's been said to cause further trouble for the railway.

I recommend everyone reports the comment in question to the admins so that it can be removed.

A private message would have been enough, but the post has indeed been removed, My post was not meant to be inflammatory but just saying that relations need to be handled carefully, but if people take it the wrong way, and over react, then, i;m not sure what else i can say.

 

Nothing would be a start.

The quote you are replying to (and, I think, all the other replies to it and quotes of it) has had the names removed, but your quoting it means they are still visible, so you may now wish to edit the names out.

 

Sometimes, when a post is removed, subsequent posts quoting it are also removed. That hasn't been done this time, so anyone can still see it.

 

Rails come to the Rother Valley. Sounds like an important act, symbolising the change.

Presumably this is in addition to the recovered rails at Robertsbridge, which I seem to recall were welded into longer lengths, from shorter lengths donated.

 

Some of the Rail is new - some is from Robertsbridge - lengths are in the blog entry.

 

Yes indeed, but it says and new rail from Robertsbridge. I thought all the rail at Robertsbridge was recovered, not new.

 

Its great that rail produced and rolled at the beleaguered Scunthorpe furnace has been used, and a good piece of PR, as well.
I seem to remember that when the Bodiam extension was laid, the rail had to be procured from Poland.
Stunning pictures, but I'll bet that coming in via The Moor at Hawkhurst must have been hellish for those drivers!
