Although not the K1, I have heard a similar whisper of hope from a decades long support crew member for another a non air-braked mainline loco currently under overhaul - understanding within their group is that there will be mainline work for them in the coming years from WCR (but who knows what this is based on!).

I am not sure it is that black and white.
With LSL it does not seem to fit their higher end model. They might do it to annoy WCRC if they were still around, but if they were not then far from given I suspect.
Who else with a steam case would have the stock to run it? Does it not need about three sets because of tyre turning during the season? Would any TOC want to put their core business at risk?
I have no knowledge of what David Smith may want to do, but if I was him I would not be selling Mk1's off to former competitors if I was winding up the business. But then I hold a grudge to people who have annoyed me. It would be a bit like Ryanair selling stuff to BA .
I guess Scotrail may be interested, but may not have good optics when the rest of the network has issues.

I was deliberately not commenting or speculating on who might take on - the extreme circumstances I posited would turn both people and suppliers into free agents, and create a new set of conditions.

What new series is this? Has the route to Hogwarts changed?

What they appear (from the outside) to be doing is burying their collective heads in the sand, waiting for a U-turn from ORR. That position is evidently doing some harm to the Jacobite's reputation. How long they can maintain it is uncertain.

It is on Netflix or Prime I think. I have seen adds pop up on one of the streaming channels.

825 is fitted with GSM-R. The only thing it doesn't have is OTMR as the NYMR have an exemption from needing this to run on the EVL.

There's a post about it on another forum that says "Mk. 2 SO 5229 (basically a 48 seat First Open) has today moved from Carnforth to Fort William with TSO 5487 and FO 3326. 5229 newly fitted with CDL. (5487 and 3326 already fitted). All three are air-only vehicles."

3326 is still a coffin, but the other two are MK2 with opening windows earlier style.

5229, which has been a regular on the air-braked Mk. 2 Jacobite set for many years before 2024, is newly-fitted. Will fitment to more pressure-ventilated air-only Mk. 2s follow?

5487 was fitted in the 90s. 5478, also fitted, is still at Carnforth. 5453 has been in use on the Jacobite for the past two seasons.

Having travelled recently on two regular service trains on hot days with failed electric aircon and a refusal by staff to open windows... the Jacobite would seem to be an improvement with the rest of the nation.
