Seen tonight in a layby off the A303 just east of Mere 80104 on a low lowder with nobody around her (that I could see) with just 2 red lamps for company.
Any ideas why she is there?

WSR gala is not until start of October we'll not need so many locos then so hopefully there should not be any problems at SR managing without 6695 for a couple of weeks.

I was surprised to see 80078 at the Swanage a week or so ago, i thought it was an SVR loco.

    Is it on loan?

80078 is a Southern Locomotives Ltd locomotive and is based at Swanage. 80079 is the loco you're thinking of.

Not in preservation, but they may have done when working on the LT&S in BR days. 80079 did however work with 80080 on the main line in preservation.
