The point I'm making is that the regulator can ensure that your following the rules, As I understand it, West coast cannot operate Mk1's in passenger use until they comply with the ORR's requirements, they don't have any agreement that enables them to do otherwise, and the only stock they have that does comply just happens to be the air braked mk2 stock, ORR does not say that Vacuum braking will at any point be banned, only that every operator has to have agreed to the fitment of CDL, to any passenger stock operated on NR Your once again putting words in my mouth that i never said.

There’s nothing in law that prohibits the use of vacuum brakes and the regulator can only enforce the law. Nothing to stop Network Rail from imposing a ban, though. However, like CET, I believe they would have to pay for any upgrade.

My bosses and myself have had some interesting conversations with our local council recently, it’s amazing how reasonable people can be when you’re prepared to show a bit of compromise. Jus’ Sayin’

Did you take your local council to court, and lose, before you started having conversations and finding them reasonable to deal with? Jus' Sayin'.

I'm sure pmh_74's question was rhetorical. WCRC did take ORR to court.

I wonder, what's the plans are for it, preserved line use, possibly? Does Mr Smith have any ties with any preserved railways, because, unless there are MK1'S being CDL fitted, there won't be any main line use for it, unless it has acquired air braking equipment.

The Wensleydale Railway. It was fairly limited on the main line as 45 mph engine

It goes without saying that the team at 10A never does exactly what some of the outside world expects, or wants. Given the length of time that WCRC has ticked over that hasn't turned out to be a particularly bad business strategy, has it?

My sympathies lie primarily with any other company that may have to do business with them as that seldom seems to be straightforward.

Have to disagree with you there, 48151 carved a very good niche on the S&C with heavy loads and was suprisingly sprightly in the right hands.
It has a 50mph limit BTW, so on lines with a 60mph limit it isn't too bad to path. It did cause chaos when they put it over Shap mind..
Think it took a fair few of the Scarborough trips too, which are on predominantly secondary routes & it can also take a more viable load to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

I would doubt if WCRC are any more difficult to deal with than at least five of my regular suppliers I dealt with.
Strangely enough an incident in the week made me think about one of them who was our landing gear overhauler based next to the GWML between Hayes and Harlington Station and Airport Junction. I would drive past them to and from work each day, being less than 2 miles from my house.
So one year when things were going especially badly we agreed a meeting with the CEO in Sun Valley California, which is part of greater LA. So the three of us (myself and two engineering staff) give up a Sunday, fly to LAX, drive to Burbank for a 09:00 meeting Monday. We turn up receptionist says "he is not here", we ask where he is as we have an appointment, and she says "he is at our plant in London", i.e. two mile from my house and 3 mile from our office.
I doubt 10A would pull a stunt like that with a customer or supplier.
At least my Engineering colleagues got their Sunday back as a lieu day, a concept not recognised by my director and his leadership team (despite it being company policy).

Here seems as approaite as anywhere else given the talk of the K1 return, WCRC MK1s and Jacobite.

    It was re-wheeled yesterday.

No obvious initial signs of Air Brakes, just the through pipe(?) that it had before?

Things can change but I was talking to John Hunt a while back and he said they were not going to kit it out for air braked trains
