don't quite see the relevance of this pin-balancing to the Teifi Valley railway...?

Is that a reference to the grammar police?
There is usually no true relevance to anything from the grammar police, but it does prevent this becoming a pacifically railway forum

Not sure what she is talking about, she has not been banned at all. I’ve just double checked and her account is active so perhaps she should try logging in again as she should be able to.

Apparently it rejects her existing password and when she tries to change the password and log on it says "You have been banned for the following reason: Spam. Please contact the administrator if this was done in error." She says she has tried contacting admin but no reply.

If I were a sensitive person, I would feel there was a passive-aggressive criticism in your last sentence.
It is possible that TVR Volunteer is asleep, or at work, or at the railway, or visiting his sick grannie, or doing his weekly tescos and simply has not had time to spread any news. He might be climbing through the undergrowth at Lampeter trying to get a more illustrative photo of the shed in question
Then when he does get here, he will see an apparently barbed comment. Is this the path to peace?

Sorry, I think you are being way too sensitive - I can't really see the op as passively aggressive. I too would have expected an active supporter/volunteer to have publicised any good news. Does that make me passive aggressive too if I say ~I am surprised that he hasn't as yet?

Possibly, but to be completely honest, apart from some sniping as battle lines appear to be drawn, have we actually had any update at any point despite the declared intentions?

I believe (having been curious and thus checking back through the 43 messages archived) that, yes, there has been an update posted. Once. In 2023. There was a post which invited another forum member to a guided tour and a few pointing folk to the Facebook page for news. Otherwise it does largely seem to be reactions to other posts.

Well, of course it could be that TVR Volunteer doesn't know about it.
For all we know, the developer of that site made a phone call to one individual (whoever) along the lines of "if we provide this stacked up in kit form are you interested" and got a response along the lines of "potentially, yes" and then stuck in their planning application to see if it would fly.
As a volunteer on a railway elsewhere, I wouldn't expect to know about every little potential project in the pipeline before it was a done deal, and it doesn't really sound as if this one is, yet.
(Of course, a more savvy management response would have been "yes, if you obtain planning permission and build it for us", but that doesn't seem to have been the claim!)

The cynic in me thinks that this shed, once dismantled, will sit around in bits for years before being quietly got rid of. The GCR/GCRN have obtained and then binned at least three, possibly four historic sheds in the past (Workington most notably) and they have infinitely greater resources than the TVR does. I've no idea what this building is or if it is really historically important or interesting but I hope the planners do due diligence on what is proposed, if it is seen as important.

(Equally, I wish the TVR no ill will; good luck to them if they do secure this building.)

I have been advised more than once that re-erecting even a basic steel portal frame building often works out more expensive than building new. Fingers crossed.

I'm sure that's true, although I doubt any 'historic railway building' would be so constructed anyway. So costs (compared with a new warehouse-style construction) go up further still. Unfortunately I'm none the wiser because the linked article, despite recording the council's apparent desire for the public to 'view and appreciate' this apparently wonderful building, have chosen to illustrate the article with a photograph of a field and one of some nearby houses.

Should the relocation come to pass, the evidence of whether it is a good deal or not will be found in a couple of years' time in the TVR accounts. Oh, hang on...

I am sure that's true, but doesn't take into account the heritage aspects which you expect to cost more.

One would hope that if someone is giving away a heritage structure then they would do due diligence to ensure that the recipient can restore it. However I suspect the donor is just glad to see it gone and doesn't care
