It has been confirmed in the B & W Supporters mag. that the sale has fallen through and it is back on the market for £50,000.

No, it's a runner and was at Avon Valley a few weeks ago for their gala.

Indeed it is in full working order, I think Mark is thinking of the one at the South Devon Railway.

    Mk3 Welfare/Mess coach FOR SALE:

    Located Leeming Bar (Wensleydale Railway)

The coach in question is DB 977989 and has been in use as volunteer accommodation since 2016, converted ex 10536 in 2003 by LH Group for Jarvis with the intention of being a mobile mess facility / welfare coach.

Power wise: the coach runs off the usual 240v system, which can be connected via the 240v shore supply plug on the end or can run off 2x 240v generators, located underneath. However, only one of these generators was present when it arrived at the railway and the second, whilst operational, is not planned (currently) to be included in the sale.

    Room wise:
Starting at the kitchen end, the kitchen is clean and runs cold and hot water (the latter when 240v is supplied).
Next there are two of the original bunk rooms, the first was used by Jarvis as an office and the second was used as a medical room.
The next 6 rooms were knocked through to create an open mess area, with metal tables and seating (as pictured below).
After the mess area is the changing/cleaning room which is fitted with a large double sink. Due to a frost damaged pipe when the vehicle arrived, the taps in this room were never reinstated, but I can't imagine the repair would be too difficult.
Finally the two onboard toilets are complete and are retention tank fitted.

To prevent mold accumulation, the coach has vents fitted, where the vestibules used to be, which can be opened or closed by hand as required.
The coach is heated via a full length tube heater, which is controlled via a thermostat and is operational,
In the summer it is cooled via an extractor fan, which is also operational.

Bodywork wise, the coach is starting to show the usual signs of mild corrosion but has held up well due to the two-pack paint. Only a few frosted windows, no internal leaking.

The original ladders which fasten on to the open doors and make for easier access from the ground, will be included in the sale.

Bogie wise, BT10s, whilst the tyres aren't brand new, they still have some life left in them.

Whilst this coach was on an isolated panel of track, it has recently been returned to the main Wensleydale Railway track work.

Would be nice to see this one live on as it’s a quirky unique vehicle with a fun bit of history.

Any interested offers please PM me and I’ll pass your information on the the relevant person
