From A1 Steam Trust Facebook page this evening

Tornado has had a fire lit today, following a wash out and the fitting of a new grate. From the start of the year, snagging work has been closed out resolving minor issues that presented during the running in period after its overhaul. Final checks are now underway ahead of the A1 attending the ELR for the Legends of Steam event in March.

Supporters will soon receive The Communication Cord which contains further details of the snagging work required.

No 60163. A1 Trust have confirmed it won’t be going now. Instead for test runs with WCRC and confirmed RTC and WCRC will be using the engine till 2028…

a1 trust have confirmed not coming to the ELR for the gala and will be doing test runs with WCRC primarily for RTC tours (and odd northern belle)

532 or 4472 would do as a replacement.

60532 won't be doing preserved lines yet and 4472 comes with a whole different set of challenges so I fear you are going to be rather disappointed

Or as it’s going to WCRC something superior like 45699 ..(as 44932 covered at KWVR for 45212).

45699 or perhaps 35018, both would be winners

46115 hasn’t done much recently, that would be very nice.

From ELR Legends of steam webpage

    Update 6th March:

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond the control of the East Lancs Railway, the visit of A1 steam locomotive, 60163 ‘Tornado’ has been postponed. Further information supplied by A1 Locomotive Trust

The ‘Legends of Steam’ event for Friday 14th to Sunday 16th March will still go ahead and the ELR team is actively seeking an alternative locomotive to operate both the daytime timetable and Saturday evening dining train.

Once the ELR has confirmation of the final locomotive line-up, the customer services team will contact advance purchase tickets holders with available options.

I think Blue Peter is too new for Hoskins to lend out to a preserved railway, Something from WCRC would be more acceptable seeing as though they have pinched Tornado, as previously mentioned on here 35018 BIL, 46115 Scots Guardsman or 45699 Galatea, or whatever its called nowadays, all very rare at the moment

Update 7th March: Legends of Steam - The East Lancashire Railway

''We are delighted to announce that we have secured B1 61306 ‘Mayflower’ (replacing ‘Tornado’) for the Legends of Steam Event! With many thanks to Locomotive Services Ltd and Jeremy Hosking.

61306 ‘Mayflower’ will arrive on Friday 14th March in the afternoon from the mainline, and will be attached to a service train and operate for the rest of the afternoon subject to availability. ‘Mayflower’ is also rostered to replace ‘Tornado’ on the evening diner on Saturday 15th March – the first time that this locomotive has been at the head of our ‘Dining with Distinction’ train. Keep updated on our official social media channels for revised timetables, which are currently being put together''.
