Since others suggested that a new overarching thread was required, this seems like the opportunity place to ask @Mrcow

I see that FR carriage 100 (mk 1) has joined the fleet with the intention of reconstruction (necromancy perhaps?) - any idea if it'll end up with numerical seniority over carriage 100 (mk 2) - which would then have to be renumbered out of the Barn range? Or will it end up as 1000 like it ended it's original life?

It'll be numbered 100, and everyone will just have to work it out :). It's going through the process that lots of FR carriages do, it just had a longer break in-between withdrawal and the overhaul commencing.

The IOWSR have two carriages with the number 4115. And years ago, GCR used to have two buffets numbered 1852. So there is precedent for that sort of thing...

As mentioned elsewhere, NG15's 120 and 146 are two locos that I have seen, 120 used to belong to the late Peter Thompson, 146 was at the Brecon when I last saw it. It is the only time I spoke to Peter Rampton and I asked if it was ok to take some photos, which he readily agreed to, just as long as I didn't post them in a magazine or online.

It was back then a right state, I think the boiler was a write off, so whatever happens to it and if anyone was thinking about getting it back in steam, then I hope you have deep pockets.

If I were to win the lottery, then the ng15 in Devon might also be in the same condition and it too will require a lot of work to be done if that is to ever steam again.

Will we ever see all 6 NG15s in steam again here in the UK? Only time will tell, but you never know what might happen.

The Gin Palace page has been updated on the website today with the latest progress pictures from Boston Lodge. The roof canvas is now on and the doors are being built.

Good to see. Looking at your website it looks like a lot of work’s been done too on ‘Nellie’ the Luttermoller. Is it planned to complete this one first, or the Matheran?

740 will be done first. They both needed a similar amount of boiler work but 740 needed far less work overall so it skipped Nellie in the queue. Nellie needs new frames which are the major delay as they require a lot of design work.

Without going through any tunnels, by the look of it!
Are there any platform faces to worry about? (Haven't been on the WHR for so long, I can't remember if they are high- or low-level.)

Not all of the structures are created equal ;) the platforms were the important part, and they're on the diagram. Clearance shouldn't be an issue, and certainly less than the cylinders and drain cocks on an NG15.

"Badly" would appear to be the answer! Clearly Dinas to Nantmor is out of gauge, I suspect the Tellytubby bridges between Porthmadog and Pont Croesor rule out that end too. Does the loading gauge even allow for operation between Dinas and Caernarfon given the limited clearances at St Helen's Road and Coed Helen Lane bridges?

It should, in theory, fit through the telly tubby bridges. Subject to testing it may go as far as Hafod Y Llyn

It seems a crying shame that the most powerful diesel on the 2' gauge would, in effect, be limited to the flat bit!

Almost certainly, although Shad would have the last word on that. It will be fitted with Rheidol compatible brake pipes.
