Just checked the Facebook page for Steam Dreams and they've also posted the press release about 71000, but the bit about hauling Saphos railtours has been removed (but is still on the LSL and BR Standard Class 8 Locomotive Trust posts), so presumably 71000 will be part of the Steam Dreams roster.

Just out of interest with LSL are 34046's and 46100's tickets due to run out soon? 46100 returned in 2015 and 34046 was 2016, if I recall, so are they good to go on a full 10 year ticket and come out in 2025 and 2026?

The Duke is an air brake loco and it makes sense to me for it to be based somewhere that will capitalise on that especially now that VT has declared its hand to go GWR. It is of course a Class 8 and that will help to minimise the impact of the current arrangement with stock and air con/diesel.

There was an email to members in October giving advance notice of the inaugural run but with the date yet to be determined.

71000 trust volunteers are feverishly working on finishing the overhaul alongside Tyseley staff . Its only when you stand alongside it you realise the complexity of it especially when compared with 7802 . you can see why these final stages are not quick

Steam Railway once again states next month, although which month I guess depends on which month you are reading it!!

I am of the belief that there is no HR preservation group that is operating in a modern commercial environment with suppliers and clients in tow that would use this statement which may be true for smaller volunteer; led groups that operate on an 'as funds allow' basis.
I do however think that any delivery plans can & will change and each owning group has the right to keep those plans under wraps as they feel is necessary.
Therefore what is likely more appropriate is "there are no planned delivery dates for 71000 that are currently in the public domain so please watch this space for more news"

So basically, it will be ready when it's ready. [BJ]

Lots on here seemed to get very upset out missed public dates on Tornado, so why would someone else go down the same path.
You could look at HS2 and Crossrail as a mammoth projects with all the project managers and spreadsheets in the world, but"it will be ready when it is ready" is far more truthful than a load of missable and missed dates.

Firm dates are next to impossible. It is too much of a cottage industry reliant upon very small numbers of experts in some areas.

A project manager well knows that dates change and plans are a moving fest but to just rely on telling the public that 'it will be ready when it's ready' is a tad patronising is it not? At this point in time, there will be milestones held that show when HS2 will be ready - and yes these will likely change but to suggest that no plan completion dates exist is incorrect. As a long standing programme & delivery manager, all my PMs always had plans but not necessarily published!

I wasn’t commenting on HS2 although given the infrequent nature of major projects in the uk, maybe it’s not so different.

My comment was about steam really. I mean there are maybe 300 or so full time expert fitters and boilersmiths in the UK? There have been times when there have been only a couple of people capable of certain jobs. That’s all.

Latest info is that the main steam pipes, which caused no problems during the last period of operation, need some attention.
    But they believe that
