In that case, I am also not sure how they will have enough motive power to cover it all.

Looking at the RTT paths it seems that the loco for the tour from York on Saturday arrives at the NRM from Carnforth on Friday, which suggests 44871 probably heads back to London for the polar express. What carnforth locos are available, Tangmere perhaps?

given its Cylinder was destroyed a few weeks back , even allowing for Carnforth rising to the challenge , unlikely

September 21st, so 3 months, is that long enough to fix it?

A few weeks? Hasn't it been a good few months at this point? You may still be right though.

The ECS working from Carnforth on Friday (5Z58) is timed for steam with a water stop at Hellifield, similar for the return working on the Sunday. I really can't see Tangmere being ready, as the cylinder repair is a huge job, and we would almost certainly need to see light and loaded test runs first. Given the lack of information from 10A, we shall just have to wait and see.

It will be interesting to see what emerges. There would still be time for a test run prior to the 21st so time will tell I guess.

I guess it depends if the cylinder is repairable or if they've swapped one from 34073.

Tangmere has received “all hands to deck” attention at Carnforth since…

Tangmere made it to York this afternoon, so assuming there aren't any issues - yes.

Which is probably why she hauled the train instead of being towed.

Is there a problem at Berwick, not moved out of the loop (despite having a green light) ?

Tangmere hammering north through Acklington this morning, with the low winter sun glinting on its flank and making for almost impossible lighting. Going well. :) Tangmere-(37)-bw-facebook.jpg

Should have joined you there but as I had oodles of time I decided to go on to Alnmouth but I had not reckoned on having difficulties in getting the parking app to work on my phone. It ended up that I just got on the platform as she approached the station. Result lousy photos straight into the sun but she sounded wonderful with whistle sounding as she sped past. Not sure if I was going deaf in the wind but I never heard any noise to speak of from the 47.
