If it is Tangmere, I hope there's a diesel coupled in behind, so that for the first few miles the engine is only taking its own weight, and then, if everything's OK, the loco can then take more of the load. once there's more miles under its wheels.

34067 with a cautious departure from Carnforth climbing towards Midland Shed just as the rain was easing, unfortunately the last shot the camera got a good soaking so looking through a very wet lens.

From accounts on other forums it seems that Black Five 44871 ran out of water at Tallington on Wednesday https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U39144/2024-12-18/detailed whilst running from York to Southall, causing extensive delays of up to 90mins to many service trains. It appears to have got going again after a visit from the fire brigade for a top-up.

Whoops. I wonder what the story behind that is.

In an ideal world the fireman should see that coming and you ask to be parked up somewhere you won't cause delays and can get help.

It seems that didn't happen or couldn't happen in which case the question is why not?
