Looking through a couple of the Robertsbridge local Facebook pages, unless I’m not seeing a new post, the post in question seems to be from 2019 with a comment added today!!

Thanks - should have looked more closely. The original post predates the TWAO as does the original reply - a couple of people have commented today which has brought it to the top.

That seems to be so. I cannot read the comment, as Facebook has me pegged as an undesirable (no, I don't know why, they never explained),
However the original post from 2019 has my Ironymeter running into "critical".

Do you mean this one, from 2019? Somebody commented on it today, but I can't see any more recent posts. https://www.facebook.com/reel/10157771992094610

That's the one. Someone else has pointed that out too. Paniced too soon.

Dormouse houses and bird boxes, Is that it?? I was expecting to hear something far worse, I'm sure the wildlife officers will have asked the RVR's responsible officer and reminded them of the correct numbers, or had it explained why, things such as nesting birds, or ground mammals can effect the putting up of such boxes, making a fuss out of nothing i guess,

"We believe, that that they are in breach of conditional safe guards and agreements placed on them by Rother District Councils planning department."

Well some people believe the planet Earth is at the epicentre of the solar system but that does not make it factually or scientifically correct.

A couple of new blog entries on the RVR website. Click here for the mid-october update on Austens Bridge. Progress is steady but the weather has had an effect.

It's good to see progress being made, of course, at this time of year, progress will be slowing, as adverse weather will disrupt things, Has any clearance yet been done of the section beyond Austin's bridge or is the plan to finish the bridges, then do the track bed clearances, and groundworks,

Pleasing to see that the railway is taking environmental responsibilities seriously by providing protection to prevent contaminants falling into the water. It also illustrates a safe way of working for maintenance staff on the bridge.

So clearly it wasn't just Vandalism, Vandals don't tend to have excavators at hand .

Martin, and all, Mike and the RVR have asked us to leave the subject alone. Can we, please?

Surely though the advantage is now a new bridge, state known and hopefully good for many years, needing little maintenance.

As a fraction of the total cost of reinstating the line, the difference between building a new bridge and refurbishing the old one is probably not very significant. So whoever damaged the bridge has not really damaged the project but just wasted considerable effort and made themselves look silly.

    Edit: corrected a typo.

I've just looked back at the original Ground Survey blog entry, which depicts the old bridge decks in the course of removal. As Trevor Streeter said, the abutments are the valuable items, and they have remained (pretty much) intact, fortunately.
