I believe Ian Riley has a contract to provide a Black 5 every winter. As 44871 is going to be based in London, 45407 at Wensleydale and 45212 covering everything else, not much choice.

The plan is for 45212 to be spending the run up to Xmas in Edinburgh, operating the Polar Express (or at least that was the plan).

On a beautifully crisp and sunny Autumn morning, ex-LMS Black 5 4-6-0 No. 44871 heads south through Hartford station during a positioning move from Carnforth to Bristol on 18th October 2024.

    EOS 5D Mark IV_241018_6758.jpg

The loco had been booked to pause its journey at Hartford Junction, just visible in the far distance, to allow other services to pass, but it was running early enough for the signallers to let it carry on.

    Cheers,

Hope under Dinmore just 5 or 6 down behind a late-running 197. Bonus of eight sheep, one of which is clearly a Gricer. HopeUnderDinmore-2024-10-18-3.jpg

    Good morning,

Has anyone any info about the Didcot - Stratford Charter on Mon Oct 21st with GWR 5043 please.

Will the empty stock workings be diesel hauled?

    Many thanks.

Sir Nigel Gresley at Stafford. Having just crossed from the fast to slow lines south of the station, the driver of SNG opens the regulator and puts on a disply for the rather large crowd that had gathered all down the platform to watch its passing on its return to Crewe from the Bluebell Railway.
