As I walked across Northbrook Bridge on the way to the town (to at last get my wife's drugs) it looked like there was a maroon half brake in the sidings. I was looking into the sun and did not have time to walk down into the park to check, was I seeing things?

So a POB in the making which does suggest that 28 will be going ML but will it stay at Swanage?

Website now shows a blue timetable for 26th and 27th October which is one steam loco. Disappointing but better than nothing

Sadly the possibility of a Wareham Swanage train service to connect with mainline passengers making day trips to Swanage, with the DMU, 31806 (which got grants for mainline operation) or even perhaps 34028, for 2025 now looks remote.

Morebus's parent Go Ahead will go through big changes with the loss of Southern and other rail contracts as the Government's DfT concentrates on starting GBR.
Hopefully bus contracts, subsidies and rail integration will stay and improve?

Guess the SR's one steam loco operation has affected SSL's revenue earning, so SSL are looking for more income for 34028, rather than it staying in a siding?.
34028 can take longer trains than 31806, so more suitable for rail tours.
34028 is well suited for the Polar Express which should give SSL some income, and help raise funds for the mainline equipment.

Brought from the London Underground museum?

Guess they don't need it for their 4TC heritage train?

It was used mainly used as a support vehicle for the steam crews when Steam on the Met or District took place. It was used as a passenger carriage at Steam on the Met 1989 and 1990, as well as Steam on the District 1990.

As far as I am aware, it hasn't been used since the original Steam on the Mets finished in 2000.

I had not intended to go out today, but the 15:20 looked impressive from the house so I walked over the park for the last service. Sun is of course on the wrong side, but I rather like the overll effect. DSC_1043r.jpg

Hopefully one day it may accompany the un-rebuilt General Steam Navigation… loco 35011 supported by BSK 35011!

"now looks remote" seems to be an amazingly positive take on the situation.
    Dorset Council has no money
    https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/ne...a-challenging-budget-for-the-rest-of-the-year
Government has pulled out of railway projects.
Would not be at all surprised to see Ms Reeves ditch the £2 bus fare support.

It's a shame that the loco roster has has not been updated. After all the rain that we've experienced of late, I would have liked a ride behind the T3 today. <BJ>

Trains were all reasonably loaded today, Also 34070 Manston did a light engine test run Swanage to Corfe Castle and back, following repairs.

Like last week now the "old people" have reclaimed the town after the school holidays the trains I happened to see looked very well loaded. Often better than during the holidays.
A few from today between chores, I had assumed Manston had gone on test as exactly as I stepped out of the car at home I heard a whistle and I knew the T3 would be at the other end of the line. Needing to drop a letter into the surgery I went down for the 16:40 (seen against a slightly stormy sky) and hung around until Manston returned. The different look on each side is pure MNA I guess ( not enough hours to clean both sides) from the end of steam era.
The other T3 images are the 11:20 at Herston and on the shed about 20:40 tonight. DSC_0001r.jpg DSC_0019r.jpg DSC_0028r.jpg DSC_0030_1r.jpg DSC_0050r.jpg

Some lovely photos there; the one of 563 hurrying along near Herston? is very good indeed - quite dramatic!
