Must have missed that - its the kind of thing I'd normally have definitely picked up on.
Either way, I enjoyed the red.

8Fs were never red so it wasn’t LMS livery.

No, it was an LMS livery, just not one that that class ever carried.

RH drive. Is this an ex-Turkey loco?

I think it is ex-Turkish No 45160, and never in fact worked for either LMS or BR. So any British livery is arguably fake.

There was an actual LMS No 8274, apparently built for the WD and sold to the LMS. But that was a different engine to the RHD loco seen here.

I was under the impression that 8624's red was actually EWS red.

While we're having another livery debate, how different were LMS black and BR black?

Well one said LMS on the tender and the other said British Railways. Different enough for you? ;)
I believe they were basically the same - BR Lined Black I believe has been described as basically LNWR black and my assumption is that it had already been perpetuated by the LMS

That’s correct, I believe the BR black used the same paint spec as the LMS.

I remember watching this with a friend of mine, about 1987, who didn't let on until I twigged it about half way through.

The K&ESR website has dates for some 2025 events and the 2026 Steam Gala.

Nice to hear about events in 2025 and 2026. But for me at least it would be much more use if the KESR would use their loco roster for the current time - I found a link under FAQs but it is showing Page Not Found. FAQs already has a caveat re availability.

i think we did this above - see post 1142 etc - for reasons which (to me) seem weak, they cannot post a loco roster online.

Where is the online loco roster for your own line? I can't find it anywhere.

Maybe the reasons why not are stronger though ...
