Who knows, WC never announce anything in advance and given all the adverse comment aimed at them over the years who can blame them

We have all seen what has happened over recent months when promises are made and not fulfilled.

That’s why I think their policy of saying nothing makes a lot of sense

Two very wise comments. In any case, unlike the A1ST, that I assume was the implied reference, WCRC doesn't have to account to anybody other than itself so nobody should be surprised.

5Z30. Class 47 + 44871 + stock Southall to Bristol. Lost 100 mins around Bradford-on-Avon due to 'Infrastructure problem'. Other services delayed by up to 2 hours, 9 trains totally cancelled. [BJ]

From National Rail web site -
    Route(s) affected

Between Gloucester and Westbury / Frome / Weymouth, between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour and also between Bristol Temple Meads and Westbury / Frome / Salisbury

    Description
Following a road vehicle colliding with a bridge in the Freshford area, all lines have reopened and trains are no longer affected by this incident.

    Cheers, Neil

I believe it isn’t gauge friendly down parts of that route.

Blue Peter has been down to Plymouth before. Do you know where there are now restrictions? Thanks.

As to that I cannot answer. I was told a few weeks back that it had gauging issues somewhere down in that region but not where. I’ll have an ask to see if I can find out more.

Then and now, spot the differences !

Some years back I discovered a single 645 format negative I didn't recall taking, cut from the roll and filed away with no notes to identify it. After some searching it turned out to be the Easter Chester Chuffer of 14th April 2001 at Gobowen, fortunately we were spared the sight of a headboard announcing that.
So some things just have to be done and today was an ideal chance for a 'take 2' despite different weather conditions.
Some things remain almost unchanged, others less so.
An exact match of the original viewpoint was prevented by the noticeboard on the station approach path.

(As an aside if anyone plans to go to Gobowen tomorrow be aware the station buildings are wrapped up for renovation)

Heading back to Crewe, cautiously (?), through Oakengates where the sun attempted to make an appearance, the footbridge is showing definite signs of needing some tlc, will it get it ?

Would be nice to sample a Class 8 Pacific with smaller-than-usual wheels on the Devon banks: the diesel on the back might not have very much to do.:)

    Absolutely could not agree more.

A friend and I were discussing things we’d like to see over the years happen and that was one on my list. Clan Line tackling the S&C was another.
