Now how about rebuilding the Monas Isle?

You would be better rebuilding 'Manxman', which had uprated turbines compared to her five sisters. Shame on Peel for not giving her a berth on the Mersey, leading to her being scrapped.

I was allowed on the controls of Manxman a few times in her last year, it was magnificent.

Sadly, Peels 'record' on anything historic is abysmal. The historic warships cxollection, Manxman, Royal Iris 2, HMS Bronington, are all examples of their indifference. Even derelict trackwork in the Birkenhead dock area was cut up soon after enquiries were made as to whether it could be salvaged for a preserved railway.

Peel seem to be only interested in what makes them the most money in the very short term ie now.

And I'm seen complaints about the condition of a number of significant historic buildings on the Sheerness Dockyard site.

If anybody wants to see some video of these ships, have a look at 'Yentl- a piece of sky ' which is the end of the film and features 'Manxman'
