    Just seen steam railway magazine promoting they have a piece on the railway in their next magazine. I eagerly anticipate this. A very positive article no doubt!

    The carriage shed now has the glazing above the doors fitted. Almost there now just road 2 to lay…

    A milestone today as Haulwen’s chassis lowered
    back onto her wheels. With the hydraulic and steam tests on the boiler booked next month things are coming together.

    Visited the railway yesterday with the family. Was impressed with so many 'customer experience' improvements. The cafe opening in abergwili is great but particularly the quality of the coffee, we had 2 lattes and in environmentally friendly take away cups - as good as anywhere! The new platform is also great for accessibility. In llwyfan The miniature railway has taken a leap forward since last year and both the picnic area and yard area are looking great. The dog treats with a dog ticket was a nice touch. Back at abergwili called in the sop and some new stock in there. All in all four of us adults with a baby and a dog , with only me interested in railways felt we had good value and a great day. Tickets and discretionary spend on our trip we spent over a £100 so I think the railway is getting a lot right.

    After a lot of effort the waist line beading templates are complete on GWR 216.

    Random question... many years ago (maybe 20 or so) did Manning Wardle Charwelton of the K&ESR visit the Gwili for a period?

    I'm sure I remember having a ride on a then very short Gwili railway from Bronwydd Arms, but I always remember loco that day as Charwelton.However, I'm probably getting mixed up with a separate visit to Tenterden, although we didn't ride the K&ESR, only visited the station and museum.

    If anyone can put me out of my misery I'd be grateful! It coudl have been anywhere around 2000 - 2005 I suppose, and the ride was only maybe a mile or so up and back I think?

    Don’t recall Charlwelton ever visiting, Main loco in use around that time was Welsh Guardsman.

    Thought so. I've never seen photos of it there either, so I'll assume my memories are mixed up. Cheers!

    The boiler of Haulwen has been steam tested and has now returned to Bronwydd Arms as we gear up for final reassembly of the loco.

    Its great to see the railway so busy!

    When I am down in West wales I always try and support the railway by taking the family and some friends for a ride and we had already travelled twice this year. This time we couldn't book ahead and tried to get tickets on the day on a September Wednesday out of school holidays and the train was fully booked!

    How fantastic for the railway that loadings are so high! The easiest way to increase capacity is probably bringing the RBU in for the KBU but obviously that requires overhauling the coach at great cost - can danycoed take 6 coaches?

    So glad the railway is doing so well and what a great problem to have!
