I did it last year at £10 and there were plenty of seats going, on the August Bank Holiday weekend too.

It's certainly a tempting offer. I might see if my parents are interested.

Thank you to Peter and Joseph along with all the stewards and support crew for making us welcome

I'm anxious too as I've booked on it. When I hear I'll post to this site, if no-one beats me to it.

    And so to today !

5043 at Codsall station ( a better result than last year when West Midlands managed to be in the station as the double headed Castles passed ) and emerging from the shadows of Oakengates cutting after the Telford pick up stop.

    Ooo - very nice!

Unfortunatley at Burgs Lane I was all but on my own stood in the shadow of a cloud <sigh>
If it hadn't departed 2 minutes early then I'd have had the sun as well.

Thanks Ian. Indeed, I noticed that the bridge was deserted glancing out of the car window as I passed Burgs Lane this morning, it does seem to be less of the gathering place that it once was. As for the clouds, it
was a close run thing further up the line too.............

Still awaiting the stock at Cardiff Central. Was supposed to have passed through 30 minutes ago from Pengam to Canton before returning to collect us. May come straight into platform, we know not.

The stock will be coming direct into the station and is just leaving Pengam now.

On the return this evening, 5043 gallops along the Onny Valley with a mere wisp of heat haze from the chimney - it did sound good tho'..............

The whole half hour wait in advance was spent in overcast conditions - apart from breifly when the preceding DMU came through. I'd resigned myself to yet another shot at this location without the sun. It was cutting it a bit fine, but right at the last moment as the shutter was about to be fired off the sun appeared....

    DSC07310_iac.jpg

Returning back north the train was seen stationary before Marshbrook crossing, blowing off with the crossing gates open. Continuing north I expected to see/hear it come past ...but nothing, so rather than push my luck too much I pulled in at Stapleton as the viewing spot is literally road side. A few minutes later....

Having captured two photos in sun I thought trying to get ahead a second time really was pushing my luck and destined for failure - so went to the local shop to buy cake instead.
