No due to the fact it didn’t work at the weekend it has not yet been turned. We are awaiting information for Thursday as to whether it will operate its diagram, we anticipate it to operate Friday to Sunday as booked. It will turn either Friday or Saturday AM

It does feel a little bit suspect that those who represent the railway and have been so vocal in this thread have suddenly gone quiet about the availability of 4930 and only responded when questioned rather than volunteering the info themselves. It does make you feel that if you ask a question that may paint the management in a bad light you'll be quickly shouted down. I think this is shown earlier on this thread by the staunch defence of the company when it was quite clear that 6880 wouldn't be ready in time despite the various differing views presented.

I should add I'll be visiting the gala regardless and will have a great time. I'm just aware of the cult of personality of a management that hates people to criticise (the railway I volunteer at being a prime example!).

Looking forward to a great weekend whatever happens, the SVR galas really are some of the best events on the calendar!

    13268 looks awesome btw!!

    :):)
There’s not a lot to say about 4930 tbh. A fault reported last weekend (6th/7th) was investigated in the week. It was discovered that it needed to go to BH for repair. It went. That repair is complete. It needs to be formally tested and signed back in to traffic. That MAY happen Wednesday, but we are very short on paid staff (For well documented reasons), and as such with FTRs to perform on Fenchurch, 1369 and a steam test on 7714 to carry out, 4930 may need to sit out a day on Thursday and be tested then instead.

Also it may happen that 4930 is tested in time, and it may be able to cover part of its diagram on Thursday.

Perhaps when you say that there’s not been much info this week/last week on 4930, you might consider I’ve sat (Along with 2 others) for about 5 hours a day (Outside my normal work) and written diagrams for crews, shunt instructions and various other things. Apologies for the lack of updates, we volunteers must give every waking hour we have it seems!

13268 does look awesome, very excited for Thursday AM to fire it! :)

I think most people really appreciate all the hardwork you and your volunteer colleagues put in for us to try to ensure an enjoyable Gala for everyone, there will always be a curved ball and we know you will do your utmost often in very trying circumstances to overcome it. Thanks

Thanks Harry, a very informative response for which I'm thankful. I fully understand the volunteer issues, I'm one of them myself. I just wonder if a bit of empathy towards the concerns would help a little bit from time to time. I know that the SVR galas will always be brill thanks to yourselves and many others (I'm sold already!!), I just want others to feel the same too and I hope you'll empathise a bit rather than just go into defensive mode straight away when people ask a couple of questions (rather than the obvious which way are the locos facing, will Gordon be running etc :p).

Looking forward to a great weekend :D

Anyway, today's forecast for the event from BBC is fairly good. The rain for tomorrow is actually in the evening 7 onwards.

Arley station tea room will be open and doing hot pork rolls at lunchtime every day

    upload_2024-4-17_10-45-26.png

EMF coach also open all days with a cracking selection of books and model railway items

    upload_2024-4-17_10-47-37.png

Bewdley Station fund shop also open

I suspect Paddy will have the 813 fund coach open and also the GW SVRA coach should be open at Bewdley

finally Bewdley buffet should be open

Planning to come to the gala on one of the days. Have to say that the line-up is very enticing and all credit to those who have secured the locos for the event.

Having navigated the timetable to help me decide on the day to attend I have to say that the way it has been put together is impressive. That's even more the case when you consider that it's basically a single track railway where you have to plan carefully for the gaps to allow any slight slippage in traffic to be absorbed.

Well done, in advance, to all. All we hope now is that the locos all manage to survive the four days and that the trains run with what is intended.

I gather 4930 is having a test run later today so hopefully all will be well.

4930 arrived at Bewdley, requires a few more tweaks tomorrow at Bridgnorth. Will resume diagram from Friday AM. 75069 will cover for 4930 tomorrow all day.
