Sounds ambitious to me load 10 has it ever been done by one loco unassisted? would have thought 7 or 8 more the mark.

Hmmm 10 does sound rather high, especially as 48773 another class 8 loco was only aloud 7. Is it to do with being able to take a run at the bank?

60163 is also booked to take 10 over South Devon banks too, same as 6233 was permitted i.e. one more than the usual allowance. At least the Lickey is straight, so there is less resistance from the rolling stock.

An unashamed opportunity to post a link to the famous bit of film by PSOV of the two Moguls doing it in '97. They had 9 on looking at the film.

5690 certainly was a good 'un when Crewe outshopped it.

Those Leander clips were totally awesome! Was there on the day and can testify what an amazing performance that was. I didn't know until we got there that it was going to be unassisted, think it was quite a late decision, so it was a pleasant surprise when it came up. Will definitely try and get over for Tornado.. =P~

Load 6 for a Jubilee? Pah!

    From http://www.em89.demon.co.uk/gala/hist.htm

"Galatea is best known for the many years she was based at Bristol Barrow Road, from where she worked the cross country expresses, including the northbound 'Devonian' between Bristol and Leeds City. During this period she made a famous ascent of the 1:37 Lickey Incline with 14 coaches and without the assistance of a banking engine."

Taking the Jinty and timed taken to clear the bank it isn't as impressive as first appears.
