    Obviously the WSR don't have enough restored garden sheds on wheels to be able to use tiny locos.

    I suppose this will buy the Bodmin and Wenford a breathing space until the next financial crisis arrives.

    Are there any particular issues at Bodmin or just a mismatch between income and expenditure?

    Whilst I understand the move in one sense, WSR already have a bit of an overhaul queue waiting. Have they got the funds and manpower to return these locos to service in a reasonable time scale?

    It's not up to the WSR to fund the overhaul, the loco does not belong to them!

    Given that neither of JJP's other locos (9466 or 4936) have been or are being overhauled at the WSR I doubt 6435 would be trying to wrestle its way into their overhaul queue, it would probably go somewhere else like Leaky Finders or Tyseley

    Been there, done it, got the T shirt and the bruises.

    The present course of action is the correct one, in fact the only one given the dire state of affairs that the railway has got itself in. At a staff meeting in early January the Managing Director stated that unless funding could be found to deal with the accumulated debt it was likely the gates would have to be locked as it would not be possible to meet the January wages. To this end a number of items of rolling stock would be offered for sale.

    There are three important points with regard to heritage railway finances to avoid the above;
    1) you treat every pound as if it is your last
    2) you never commit to any expenditure whatsoever unless you have the means to pay
    3) see point 1)

    If this advice is not followed by the BWR then next year it's groundhog day and the begging letters will be in the post again.
