A patch of sunlight catches IMR No.4 Loch as it passes through Port St.Mary with a one coach special working this afternoon. Nos. 4 & 13 are both outstationed at Port Erin shed at the moment as the track leading to Douglas shed and workshops has been lifted for renewal. There is only a short window of opportunity to do this work as the seasonal services commence on 6th Dec.

I know that the people who built "Blythe" would have liked to have done some running over on the Island, but I don't know how far the discussions had developed.

It wouldn't have been a cheap exercise ...

Whats the scope of the relay here Ray? Is it a straight relay or is there redesign? I cant say I'm familiar with Douglas' layout.

I understood it to be just a long overdue relay of the life expired track outside the shed and workshops, one section of which was about 1 1/2" wide to gauge ....
However, according to the IoMSRA's website, it now also includes roads 0,1 & 2 (they're the left hand platform road, loop and siding in the photo above) so your guess is as good as mine until I go down next week.
    Cheers,
    Ray.

Been interested to find out how it's going, as far as I knew it was just going to be the track outside the sheds - but I am speculating that maybe they are taking the opportunity to deal with something before it gets to be a problem ?

Does the horse tram go all the way along now, or does it still only go halfway?

Work continues on the relay outside Douglas workshops today. In the station area roads 0 and 1 have been disconnected but the platform road (2) is still connected. Three carriages of the dining set plus service car and one 'large F' were being cleaned, in preparation for services to re-commence on Dec.6th, in the other platform road (3).

Numbers 4 and 13 are currently based in Port Erin prior to the Christmas schedule starting. Today they were outside being coaled up. The little blue simplex was in charge of moving them

Polar Express trains are running between Douglas and Santon, and various evening dining trains as far as Castletown. But the main event for me today was the Rushen Silver Band Carol Train, with the band playing at stops along the way from Port Erin to Castletown and back.
    A great day out IMG_0975.jpeg IMG_0976.jpeg IMG_0980.jpeg
