Sorry if this had been posted before, but the timetable (without loco allc'ns) is now available on the NYMR website http://nymr.co.uk/news/spring-steam-gala.

I tried to book the Tornado Sat night diner weeks back but it was booked up. Now I see on the timetable there's some non-dining tickets too. Pity they didn't mention that at the time, unless they were also sold out?

Hope not - I'm planning to do the trip after I finish duty myself tomorrow - I am pretty sure seats will still be available as there will be over 150 to go at - if you are in Pickering tomorrow, pop into Customer Services (the Parcel Office next to the Booking Office) and you should be able to either book or be advised of position.

Anyone thinking of going for the diner to Battersby tonight may like to know that they won't be getting Tornado. I'm told that the leaking fusible plug problem that caused it to miss its press run on Thursday has reoccurred today.
76079 will be doing the train instead.

Correct - I should have checked here before dragging my rellies down to Danby to see "that big green engine that's been on the news a lot". Still, the Pocket Rocket had us fooled for while with the chime whistle in the distance!

Just been up to Grosmont today and sadly 60163 Tornado has been withdrawn from service due to mechanical problems.
It was unable to power the Pullman special tonight and chat from Grosmont staff was it will miss the weekend to.
This has got to be the worse news ever for what was forecast as the ultimate NYMR gala.
Lets hope it can repaired quickly.

Its only a leaking fusible plug not mechanical. I wouldnt get too excited just yet. I would expect she will miss tomorrow and be running on Monday, depending on the condition of the plug. The super D failed on Friday with injector problems and as for the 7f. Its not a well machine with many niggles to sort out. 825 remains a mystery but know doubt things will reveal themselves when I am out and about tomorrow.

    Thank you for the update.

I wonder if they take 60007 off the EVL today to replace 60163, with 76079 doing the EVL turn.

63395 and 45212 replacing 825 across the day.

Real shame about the failures, hope you have the time to give an actual update later tonight of what happened today.

    Many thanks

825's problem is a blown seal on the blow down valve, to change it requires the boiler to cool down to prevent thermal shock and then be drained. The new seals were ready on Thursday.

Well I take my hat off to "Tornado's" PR team.

There I was standing waiting in cloudy conditions and as soon as it came round the corner they turned the sun on! =D> LINK

    They must have powerful friends.

Been up to Pickering today, gotup at 5.00am for the drive from home. Was gutted that Tornado wasn't running thought the fusable plug would have been changed - maybe it was too hot to work on. The 8.00am from Pickering was held at Levisham for about half hour for light engine move from Grosmont. This seemed to throw all the timetable out.
Was looking for a timetable amendment at Grosmont end but none available. A poster was pointed out to me by another traveller about Tornado printed in a very hard to read type font. Spent ages trying to read it!! Outline I think was the font but squashed up.
The train to Battersby we were told by platform staff would dept platform 3 it sailed past about 8 of us!! so caught next train to Whitby and through to Battersby. The refreshments were reasonably priced on Battersby Station.
I must say this made up for the loss of Tornado what a lovely scenic run lots of old stations with original stone buildings. Much further than I imagined I guess about 40 mile round trip from Grosmont.

I see NYMR diesel had the 08:30 ex Grosmont and 10:00 ex Pickering worked by D6700 vice 825 this morning.

Fingers crossed that the locos on the "sick list" can be repaired for next weekend.

Best of luck to all involved at the event.

Yeah I woundered why they did that. There was a bloke who got on the wrong train, and was going to get off on Platform 1, but obviously never did.

Yeah getting at fusible lugs isn't just a five min job. Engines and particularly new one retain heat for long periods of time and are slow to cool down the point where you can get into the firebox. New plugs BR plugs fitted today rather than the German ones it came with and it had a fire in her again this evening. So with a bit of luck she should be back on duty tomorrow. The black five failed this morning with the same problem but with the aid of chief boiler basher she was able to haul the 13:00 with assistance from us on 75029.
We watched this morning as the S15 flew through platform 1 in disbelief, hardly professional really. To be honest i think we have stretched things a little too far and been a bit too ambitious with the timetable. However that said we have been really unfortunate with engines failing, esepcially Tornado, luck of the draw and not for lack of effort. I still fell and element of coming down from the high of last Springs behmoth of a gala.

Just glad I went on saturday to catch my first glimst of Tornado
My idea was to take a few pictures linside in the morning around Darnholme / Moorgates then drive into Gromont and have a trip along the line as usual.
This is were plans fell apart and the trip along the line was dispelled with. The car parks were completly full and I drove further along the roads trying to find a road side spot for at least a further 1/2 mile. Any walk back would have meant missing the next train and other plans so went line side again. - Any body else going to Grosmont bear this in mind first !
With all the engines lined up for this gala - how are they going to use them all (If fixed) - It is obvious that Tornado will be used on one of the paths and probadly SNG on one the others as these are crowd pullers. The 3rd path is used for the Whitby run using 76079 / 75029 on saturday. These leaves all the rest for a freight or doubleheading or one early service return to Grosmont. Now hanging around at Levisham late in the afternoon eating cakes and plenty of tea & coffee , all the action in an hour there was in a 10 minute period and the rest of the hour very quiet, ( The same as Goathland station). This gala was crying out for some shuttle / freight trains between Pickering/ Levisham & Goathland/ Grosmont.
Apart from these gripes i had an enjoyable day and worth the 250 mile round trip

    John
Pictures now up on my piccy site

ps - were the coaches usually used on the shuttle added to the teak set on Tornado ?
