Your opinion against two independent witnesses.

Well no, as I said it's my "opinion" against someone reporting what two people told him about what a third person reported based on his milepost timings. That's too long a chain for me to give the claims much weight.

I quote from the book: 'Careful inspection of logged entries and watch, as well as the consistency of successive time intervals between mileposts on all the timed runs, attested to the veracity of the logs'. Withuhn was curator of transportation at the Smithsonian.

Withuhn was not the one inspecting said logged entries.

So what qualifies you to dismiss this? Withuhn would hardly have included this in his book without sufficient justification. The two witnesses were Franklin engineers, Delano and Kirchhof. The T1 had a dbhp more than three times that of Mallard.

Higher dbhp does not necessarily translate into higher speed.

    You probably left out 'not'!

But the T1s were streamlined and Franklin approved their valves for 100mph in normal use and 125mph for short bursts. Their boilers were larger than those of the Big Boys.

I did indeed leave out “not”. I will edit my post.
