Without wishing to get into the diesel on back debate, Stratford has been a popular steam excursion destination for years. The stock normally stays in the platform, the loco runs round and runs light engine to Hatton and turns on the triangle, before running tf back to Stratford.

We are also now into leaf fall season and this is always a long train to maximise income, probably had a bearing on things too.

Signalling at Hatton does not allow use of triangle to turn. Locos run tender first via north curve to Dorridge. Reverse and crossover to up line and run chimney first to Hatton station. Reverse and run tender first via south curve to S-o-A.

I have known them go the reverse of that tools Hatton, Dorridge, SAV

Gosh..glad I remembered it when was not a dead end, and seeing my first sight of a Standard 9F on a commodity train...
