City of York 25th April

Any one out for this tour, riding or watching? I should be around Masbrough Junction, Rotherham in the morning. Not seen a GW loco pass through before.

Possibly be at Swinton in the morning or afternoon. Depends on weather and what my son has planned for the day!

 

Weather forecast is for rain showers mid-morning onwards for Yorshire, ESE wind 10/15 mph. Harold.

 

Hoping to catch it at Church Fenton (am) and Frickley Bank (pm) - PTK

 

She was around the curve at Bordesley Junction a good 10 minutes early

Passing Washwood Heath Gas Holders in rubbish light: http://david1984.fotopic.net/p57762939.html , seemed to be going rather well considering the distance from Landor St, Mr Churchill on the regulator ?.

 

Passed through Masbrough Junction Rotherham about 15 mins early

And at Colton Junction there looked to be a rather large fire as we drove passed from Bolton Percy.

 

Howw on earth did that happen ? if we forget spark arrestors n all that for a moment didn't it pee down the other night ?.

 

I can't remember the last time it rained here actually, either way there was a huge ball of smoke just north of the bridge at Colton with immense amounts of smoke stretching all the way down to the village of Colton...

Anyway, my footage from this morning at Bolton Percy is now online, we'd just missed Tornado by about 10 minutes ](*,) (Typical!) Ahh well, caught it last week...

5043 is one lovely engine, credit to all the guys at Tyseley is due

Well,i only live 3 miles from Ackworth (where the fire was i believe?) and we haven't had ANY rain for over a week i think.


Went to Bolton Percy in a "New" location tonight:
Gonna have to give it another whirl in Scarborough Spa season i reckon!

After setting fire to half the countryside and part of York on it's way from the Midlands it wasn't surprising that "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" was taking it steady on the way home. 8-[

5043 this morning in the dull at Arley on the line to Nuneaton

 

Thanks Simon, I wish the sky had been blue in the morning as well, it was just dull and washed all the colour out, you got a good video though.

Rumour has it that after the fire brigade took about two hours to put out all the fires, that it was touch and go whether 5043 would be allowed to do the return.

 

Once again rumour rears it's ugly head, how long before speculation follows in it's wake?
Facts please.
