I thought the whole point of painstakingly restoring stock was to give the operations wallahs something to take up the line and break?

 

I’m guessing your the sort of person who leaves the plastic covers on the sofa?

 

You only need to worry about the ones who also have plastic sheeting on the floor and the complete works of Phil Collins on the shelves.

 

It's vital if the widespread Mk.1 snooze fest is ever to be reduced that the interesting stuff does see use.

 

On the 10th April was one of the last days 5542 was in steam before the ten years is up so was used for people who are involved with the engine and coaches and here are some of the photos I took of the train and some of the service train hauled by 6430.

 

Will 5542's ticket see her through to the 150th event at the end of the month?

Also, is 5526 due back from Swanage for this?

I don't know about 5526 but keep looking at the website.

 

5526 will be taking part in 150th event.

 

We had booked a special offer weekend in Dawlish Warren.

After lunch at The Mount Pleasant we headed off to Buckfastleigh.

We arrived just in time for the 1457 which with vintage carriages and a pair of Prairies was to good to miss.

I was surprised to discover that this train was only for those with Ranger tickets, something not mentioned in the literature, which meant it was rather more than I expected. I note that while the website says ordinary tickets are available it doesn't specify which ones.

We settled into a 3rd open with rather nice 1930'a art deco interior that my wife and her friend were impressed by, and they enjoyed the view of the River Dart.

On the return trip middle son and I rode in the Toplight, I doubt that the interior is authentic but we enjoyed the experience.

It was a bit of a disappointment to arrive back at 16.15 and find the museum and cafe closed although trains were still running but the family - not just me fancy another visit possibly including a picnic by The Dart at Staverton

Oops. There is no mention of RAIB involvement.

 

Depending where it happened then RAIB would or would not be involved. They also only tend to investigate where there would be benefit from so doing. There is someone who posts on here who can give far more detail on all this if he wishes to.

 

6430 arriving at Buckfastleigh on 6 May 2022.

 

My footage of 5526 & 1369 at work on the South Devon Railway on the 7th & 8th of August 2023, the latter covering the typical DMU diagrams & hauling a shorter 'local' set.

 

Currently on holiday in Goodrington and headed to the South Devon Railway for the day Tuesday 8th August, luckily for usa double steam day with 1369 covering the DMU alongside 5526 on the main service set. We had a round trip over lunch and then filmed the afternoons trains, short video, photos to follow...
