    To close down idle speculation,

Sinembe is currently to big for the Teifi Valley Railway’s needs and has been accepted for potential use when the Teifi has extended it’s operating track and a more powerful locomotive is required, hence a initial 5 year static display agreement with a view to return to steam in the long term. With current commitments, the Teifi Valley Railway are not in a position to return Sinembe to steam in the short term and there is no obligation to do so and they do not have any liabilities other than to look after her.

Sinembe is fully restored with a current Hydraulic Boiler test. If and when Sinembe is returned to steam, she will have a new Hydraulic and Steam Test by a Boiler Inspector and any eventuality can be covered.

I do not speak on behalf of the Teifi Valley Railway, have no involvement with them but have undertaken brief visits over the last 5 years. I have found them to be dedicated, passionate and very welcoming. I wish them all the very best in their endeavours to reopen the Teifi, unlike some who post negative comments on this site and have their own agenda. Fingers crossed, when they are debt free in the near future they will ‘Fly’ and return the Teifi to a sustainable preserved Railway.

    Good luck to the Teifi,

    Sinembe.

Interesting to read the TVR feel they need a larger engine, they managed for many years with the Alan George and SGT Murphy when the line was fully open previously. That said though I’m sure that an extra engine would be useful in the future.

Wasn't Sinembe's sister engine Isibutu returned by the S. Tynedale for being very hard on their track? Perhaps static display is the best option?

Is there still one more of these locos out there somewhere?

I believe there are 4 in the UK: Isibutu at Stafold, Charles Whytock at the L&BR, Sinembe at Teifi and A. Boule still in storage at a private location.

My understanding from those crews that worked on her when in steam was that Charles Whytock was a great steamer and someone wanted to contact the owners of the other two to buy a second one, but then CW failed a boiler exam and that put paid to that idea.

No railway can have enough working steam locos and it was a pity that Isaac left the L&BR in the way it did. Again a superb steam loco, finding suitable large steam locos for any railway is not an easy task.

Sinembe - thank you for publishing the news, because there is not a word about it on the TVR website. Do you know whether your loco will be displayed under cover or out in the yard? And whether your agreement is with the railway Society or the Company? There is a difference ...
Note: this is the latest post following my evil agenda ...

They did publish the news, it was announced on their Facebook page which is where I got the information from that it was there for static display.

It is but then again from the other side I seem to remember someone leaving a really bad Tripadvisor review because they didn’t have a working steam engine that probably didn’t help relations and was equally childish….

In the nicest possible way, you constantly bombard with negativity. Always point out the flaws. Leave false and misleading reviews on other sites.
Never once have you congratulated us without a backhanded statement.
Please just leave the past in the past. You are irrelevant and that is what hurts you the most. It fell apart with you involved (not blaming you) and you’re not involved in the rebuild which hurts.
We are clearly on the rise, we definitely are not perfect by any means. But we are and will succeed.
You’re showing how bitter you are leaving negative reviews. How petty. Shame on you!

As stated previously, no business will be discussed in an open forum.
I can see people have still more interest in the business than the railway. And yes I understand they are hand in hand. But please think for yourself, would the railway continue to grow , rebuild and succeed if we are all so bad?
