Is there not time to get it on the Agenda beforehand ? (Sorry, I've only just received the URL for the Articles. Haven't had time to read them yet.)

Who knows? I'm not sure that the Trust has yet published any 'Press Date' for the AGM paperwork....:-(

So, the notice for the AGM (at which a Trustee will be appointed) has to have at least 21 days clear notice. So we should have the papers by Saturday 22 April, 3 weeks time.

Add to that the time taken to prepare the paperwork - proof read it - print it and post it.

I hope anyone wanting to stand as a trustee doesn't leave it until the last minute to submit their paperwork. They should at least make the trust aware of their intention to stand and agree timescales.

Your suggestion has been raised on the L&BR email group and may I suggest when you reply to John Barton please raise it as another possible option.

As good as the intentions are. The AGM will not be the place to raise this as it only deals with business that has been and gone that needs to be signed off by the membership.

That said I think we could do with a new members forum to discuss all the options that are available. Of course I am still seeing red over all of this. But this has to be just the beginning of a fresh start.

My feeling is the membership need to feel they own Blackmoor as a site. At present it doesn't feel like that at the moment. Once that happens only then can a new strategy be developed and the project move forward.

As for option C. I would scrap it and start again as to what we want to happen at Blackmoor, I know I have suggested it in the past and that we need to build a new bar/restaurant building to replace the old station building if it is required to revert to a station.

But we have a once in a life time opportunity to think outside of the box and create a world class North Devon heritage centre.

I will repeat here what I wrote recently on exmoor-ng:-

"I have already written to John Barton to say that IMHO the whole process seems to be that the Board has already decided on Option C, the 'vote' has been presented in such a way that most members will either vote for Option C or not at all, and the Board will then use that as an endorsement to 'press on regardless'. Option C is like the infamous curate's egg - good in parts, bad in others. We should NOT be (forced to) vote for it simply because there is no obvious alternative.

By all means let's make use of what we already have, namely a *confirmed* planning permission for BR-WD and quite at lot of the background design work already done. But to suggest going back to the ENPA with a fresh application for KL-CFL will NOT be viewed kindly by the objectors of PE and IMHO will merely trash the reputation of the Trust still further by given the impression that we have listened to no-one and learnt nothing from the past 5 years.

Equally, although the next stage thereafter may well be the need to get under the main road and build the new Depot, we should NOT go to ENPA with a new application for that until work on BR-WD has progressed sufficiently far enough to be able to demonstrate our capability to deliver on the new Depot as well and hopefully thereby avoid any Grampian-type constraints
    ."

Much as I would not like the L&BR to 'lose momentum', we really can not afford to get it so disastrously wrong again.

Surely the deadlines for nominations are prescribed and widely published in advance, not a matter of guesswork?

Some of the posts on this thread seem to be claiming that there are those who might wish to proscribe nominations involving new blood.

    Well, you might think that,but....

There was nothing about the AGM in the latest (Feb 23) Newsletter 79, which surely would have been the ideal place for a reminder to members.

I think autocorrect may have been inadvertently revealing if there’s any truth in what’s being suggested.

Best not to put people's exact email address in the public domain, it gets picked up by spammers. Leave out the @ if you must.

Why does the AGM only need to deal with business (i.e procedural) matters ? It never used to, and I have been going to these meetings for donkeys years. Before, of course, the November forums were introduced. As I have already indicated in a previous post, in my opinion the membership should have the opportunity to discuss the current situation and the way forward before November, so that we (the members) can be assured.
