Yes I am an active volunteer
I did that at the Autumn Gala in September 2007 behind the Black 5, was in the brakevan behind the engine and the noise it made going through Berwyn Tunnel was something to behold. :)

I have here an overview of what to see at Glyndrfrdwy

The man behind it all and his gorgeuos Girlfriend Donna (who will be on the footplate over the Gala) is Simon Hudson

    How do Will,

    Overview is......: (brace yourself).....

    2 Traction engines:

Currently Burrell double crank compound 'Her Majesty'
Hoffer Schrants / Clayton Shuttleworth compound (newly restored, first steaming & public unveiling)

I am still hoping for a third,....roller or something from somewhere local, but struglin to track one down.

    15"

Either the Britania from Betws-y-Coed Museum or Barnes Atlantic Michael from Rhyl. Both would be static display.

    12 1/2"

WHR Beddgellert from Fairbourne. Static Display but in light steam on weekends.

    9 1/2"

LNWR 1909 Crew built 4-4-0 'Orion'. Static Display with proper backdrop display as it is its centenary year.

    10 1/4"

Foden built unrebuilt LMS Royal Scot
    LNER A3
    & something else.
400 foot of trck from vale of Glamorgan railway. Still trying to make sure we have cariages for public hauling.

    7 1/4"

    GWR Grange (exhibition quality)
GWR Manor (exhibition quality running on Wednesday)
    Black 5 (exhibition quality)
    Stanier class 4 tank
    LMS Rebuilt Royal Scot
LMS unrebuilt Royal Scot (Bassett Lowke built 1937....never steamed, not seen in public for over 20 years......hopefully will be running)
LNWR Precursor (1930s built Bassett Lowke) (this n Scot are basically with me, so will run em whenever we need somethin to chuff about.)
    LNER B1 (Exhibition quality)
Stirling Single (mine,...but still very nice quality, probably will just leave on static display...see what everyone wants to do)
GWR 5803 (mine, will run whenever needed)
GWR 1420 (new and very nice model)
    GWR 31xx Prarie
    L & Y Pug
    Southern Adams B4 tank
LMS (NCC) Beyer Peacock 2-4-2 Larne to Balleymena 3 foot gauge S class tank (should run a lot)
IOM Beyer Peacock 2-4-0 3 foot gauge tank 'Peveril' (will run a lot)
    Alice class Hunslet
    Freelance Romulus 'Mutley II'
    Freelance Thomas II 0-4-2 'Callumn'

......and probably some others that I can't remember!

we have 24 scale wagons and carriages, that we will be able to give rides on.
We have 300 foot ish of straight along with a bunch of points and curves. probably going to set it up for shunting competitions to give a slightly different type of show on this gauge.

I intend to bring in a couple of tones of 20mm limestone for ballasting the 7 1/4" Try n make it look better n be more stable. it will probably have the highest volume of engines running.

    5"

    GWR Grange
    GWR Manor 'Torquee Manor'
    GWR Duke Dog
    GWR Duke Dog
    GWR Prarie
    GWR 56xx
    LNER B1
    LNER Hunt D49
    LMS Black 5 44950
    LMS Jubilee 'Leander' (exhib quality)
LMS Jubilee 'Seahorse' (exhib quality).......intend to double head these.
BR Britania......(may cancell ....owner has cancer)
    North Staffs 2-4-2 tank
    North staffs 0-6-0 'Notty' tank
    North British Glen 4-4-0
    freelance 0-4-0 sweet pea
    freelance 0-6-0 simplex 'mushy pea'
    Freelance Tich type thing

....and again probably a few others that I have forgoten. There will be a long straight raised 5 inch and 3 1/2" track ......hopefully giving rides as and when people want to run their models. Hopefully plenty of action certainly over the weekends. The Black 5 is mine, so will get someone to run that as a reserve.

    3 1/2"

    GWR Grange
    Prarie
    Black 5 44806
    LNER B2
    Quarry Hunslet
.....and again some others that I can't remember

Big Marquee to bottom side of the new road, 60x40 (may need to enlarge it).....to hold all models while on display and not running. Also Richard Cadge is on about adding some traders in there with us. so when that is tied down, I will be able to be surer if we will need another 10 foot or so on the marquee.

There are also a few outside traders with their own tents,.....probably put them up backing onto the platform.........which is where I am planning to put the traction engines.

The 10 1/4" will now go the length of the field on the river side.
the raised 5 inch n 3 1/2 will go at 90 degrees to that along the bottom new road to the new gate (effectively both from the marquee). The 7 1/4" will start from the marquee swell,.....n they who knows.....we are gonna have a play n see what track we have got n what we can build.

We will leave the majority of the middle filed plot (to the right when u go in the gate) available and open for the vintage cars and bikes that turn up.

    Gotta go,
    Cheers
    Simon

A big thanks to Simon and Donna

I hope you all appreciate the work he has put in by taking time out and having a look round the show at glyn

For those that have seen the working timetable, you will notice that there are departure times from Carrog for the Down Direction. This is to simulate departures for Corwen, and coincide with a Corwen display that will be at Carrog.

Sorry for the delay, your brochure is going in the post tomorrow so you should receive it Tuesday.

To everyone else, all tickets and brochures should be in Tuesday's post at the latest. A batch has been processed today and will go in tomorrows post.

A quick update from Simon about the goings on a Glyndrfrdwy

Couple of developments,.....thought you might like to know that now have finally confirmed, on the 10 1/4" Fowler boiler Royal Scot (built by Fodens apprentices), LNER A3 (Scotsman I think),......and the other GWR 47XX (The more elusive twin to chris's that was at the last gala) would like to call chris and see if we can reunite the pair!

Traction engine news.....I have managed to Arriving on friday 17th will be 2 Burrels, infact the two from the publicity that has been circulating,.....the black single crank compound and the red posher one with the roof. and then ariving midweek, ready for the second weekend there will also be 'Lord Lacelles', a very posh large Burrell showmans engine.

We have 26 7 1/4" locos,......(which is a lot by any exhibitions standards).....including the nice Grange, cracking B1, 2 stanier boiler scots and a fowler boilered one built by Bassett Lowke, black 5, prarie, aspinal atlantic, LNWR Precursor, Stirling Single...etc etc....A good diverse list. The 5 inch has a similar number, with a similar diversity, including some fine models, and a number of matched pairs. 2 LMS Jubilees, 2 Manors, 2 Dukedogs, 2 black 5s, a B1, prarie, taffy tank, notty tanks, North British Glen,....etc....

Hopefully Cheshire fire brigade are confirmed to bring a couple of vintage fire engines,......which will sort out our water pumping needs

On Saturday the 101/4 track was laid which comes from the now defunct Vale of Glamorgan Railway

A big thanks to Austin Gareth and Mike from south wales

The 2 foot guage at Carrog is now laid and it awaits Irish mail thanks to Alan and Neil from the WLLR

For the truck spotters among us there will be ten trucks coming in over the wednesday and thursday this week

    Consisting of

    5526
    5199
    City of Truro
    Morayshire
    Royal Scot
    Beaver Tail Coach
    Autocoach

    I think thats enough

Off to langollen now right through until the end hope to see you ALL there

I can't remember whether it has been mentioned. But is it possible to find out in advance which direction the loco's are facing or is it possible to find out like on the morning? As was hoping to come up for the weekend, but wondered if that could be found out in advance.

    Many thanks.

Apart from the auto car I expect they will all be facing smoke box out of LLangollen, usualy are, but thinking about it maybe the black five wasn't on the last gala. My own prefence is face them all the same way unless you have a time table more every 30 mins, as you end up with two hour gaps and then a mad five minutes of action as you try to catch both. Even worse if your on The NYMR as there are five miles of twisty narrow roads between the best north and south faceing area's.
