That's what the letter says. 9+Kitchen Car+POB. Probably the same set we had last month.

Got revised timings for the return. Away from Preston at 1807 no doubt as a better path is available south on the WCML.

Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express Saturday 18th March - update

We are emailing you with regards to your booking on the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express this coming, Saturday 18th March 2023.
Despite previously having access agreed at all stations on the route of our train we were informed today that Nuneaton and Rugby stations would be closing before our return time due to the Train Operator's strike which is taking place on Saturday. We have therefore today made the following arrangements to get our passengers back to their original boarding stations.
    Nuneaton and Rugby passengers only
Passengers for Nuneaton and Rugby will need to disembark the train at Atherstone, where there will be private road coaches waiting to transport passengers back to Nuneaton and Rugby station. We anticipate an arrival back at Nuneaton station at around 8pm and an arrival back at Rugby station at around 8.20pm.
We are pleased to confirm that Network Rail planners have retimed the return leg of our train to help to provide an earlier return time and to prevent any issues at the other stations used for the tour. The revised return times for the train are as follows:

    Appleby depart 15.16
    Preston arrive 17.47
    Crewe arrive 18.48
    Atherstone arrive 19.35
    Milton Keynes Central arrive 20.25
    Watford Junction arrive 20.53
    London Euston arrive 21.16
Please accept our apologies for these changes, which are outside of our control, please be assured that every best effort was made by all involved to reinstate Nuneaton and Rugby stations on the return of our train. We thank you for your understanding and patience of the situation.

That's strange given that RTT shows updated times for the train without the Atherstone stop and with Nuneaton and Rugby stops shown. Arrival back in Euston one hour earlier. Nice.

RTT now showing the Atherstone stop 1934/1938 and non stop through Nuneaton and Rugby. So all consistent.

...and now back into Euston before 9 pm. What's not to like? :)

You couldn't make it up. No trains on the network yet the ECS is running about 45 late so the Euston departure is delayed.

I wonder if they will find a new path?!!

Points failure at Southall apparently. So about an hour late.

Living in the upper Pennines...I suspect, too, slippy rails looking at the current weather...

RTT is predicting just a 3 minute stop at Carnforth, implying no change of loco. Is this just RTT doing what RTT does in showing what is technically possible, or does it reflect the actual plan?

RTT doesn't reflect reality in these situations. Anyway, Standard is at the front which is a bonus

Should be just a quick swap at 10A and then away I’d say.

Depends how the 0917 Euston-Carlisle runs ( Carnforth 1204) I'd say. It might have to follow it.

True enough but there’s only the Pendo to Carlisle that might be a problem that you mentioned but it should have ample time to get passed the CME you’d think.

well done sir, 13 min turnaround at Carnforth. With a 25 min headstart, it could go all the way with the pendo stopping at Oxenholme and Penrith.
