Vivarail battery units threaten preserved line in US.......

The line used to be served by overhead electric units until sevice was withdrawn between Elwyn and West Chester in the 1980's after which the wires came down and that section became a preserved line. SEPTA have recently extended their EMU service from Elwyn to Wawa and it looks like they (or more likely West Chester Borough Council) are interested in the operation of a regular link from Wawa to West Chester again, using the Vivarail units. There are a couple of those sets already in Pennsylvania as they are being demonstrated to potential customers at the Rockhill Trolley Museum in Orbisonia.
Whether SEPTA (notoriously short of money most of the time...) have the finance available to entertain such a scheme is another matter....
