The port of Aden came up as an incidental link in another search for information. I thought it might be worth some research. This article and the associated images are the result ...

When my father served in Aden 1964-65 the Aden Salt Works was closed. We took a look one day: all sorts of paperwork in the office, such as a commercial code book and unused headed notepaper which we took for my sister (then 6 years old) to draw on! In a shed was a narrow gauge diesel. I remember it as being in good shape; for some reason it is fixed in my mind that it was Japanese. (I was only 12 so didn't look too deeply, or deeply enough, perhaps.)

Interesting, Pat. The salt works grabbed my attention when I saw pictures of trams/wagons being drawn by camels. I have recently finished a second article about Aden which includes the salt works. I did not pick up on the loco you mention.
I did find information about another line which was at Elephant's Bay quarry, and of course, the Port tramway. I will share it soon.
