I do try to keep up The RVR blog showing the turntable going round appeared there only yesterday. Post no. 2005 in this thread was over 3 weeks ago and links to the RVR blog home page, so it'll always show the most recent blog entry at the top.

 

Unless I've been dreaming it showed that same clip when Mike Hart posted it, though.

 

Sweet dreams are made of this who am I to disagree. But check the dates of both the blog and the YouTube clip.

 

As I remember it the clip of the turntable rotating only appeared last week.

 

You’re possibly right. All I know is I’d seen the clip several days before and it would have had to be on here. I looked back to find a post with it on and that was Mikes.

 

I must have missed this RVR Video entitled 'Addressing Concerns over Extension to Robertsbridge' (of 2018):

It is well done and should bring a measure of satisfaction to us while we await the Inspector's verdict.

 

We have a new Secretary of State for Transport. It is anyone's guess as to how she will view the Inquiry's recommendations, whenever that happens.

 

Is she a friend of the local MP that was opposed? If so ...

 

For those who don't know it's Anne-Marie Trevelyan who is the MP for Berwick-on-Tweed. I suspect that it's the Policy Civil servants will look at the Inquiry report and make the recommendation.

 

It's an interesting question, but there's a trade off between the powers that the SOS has, and the risk of a decision being taken to judicial review because the SOS hasn't made their decision appropriately.

 

Whatever the verdict is, just get on and announce it, it's been overdue now for months, unless of course it's still sat in the pending tray, because Shapps couldn't be bothered to sign anything off,

I just wonder how many more Secretaries of State for Transport at Muppet Theatre, London we have to go through before a decision is finally announced?

This is not the kind of gov’t decision which’d be delegated entirely to Civil Servants. The Inquiry Inspector acts independently and will’ve made his recommendation in his report, which neither the Civil Servants nor the Sec. of State can change. The SoS can reject this recommendation, and make a contrary decision, but will have to explain why - no doubt the Civil Servants’d need to assist with the legal & policy aspects of this.

Some Ministerial decisions are made on the nod in the office; or at home or in the car at the stroke of a pen on a document in one of the infamous ‘red boxes’ they’re constantly lumbered with. It’s entirely up to the Minister whether they do this or whether they take a much closer interest and engagement before deciding. Civil Servants may also ask the Minister to accept a detailed briefing on those issues warranting greater attention than many of those bundles in the red box might otherwise receive. SPADS (political advisors) may also take an interest in the political implications of any pending decision.

 

Let's hope for "Yes Minister". Currently on Radio 4 Extra on Monday lunchtimes.

I think they said a year - so it's only just about due. I am assuming that the report will include all the documents submitted - this will require a lot of collation which I assume the support team will do. I don't know the process but I suspect that the findings will be made available to the applicant and the objectors in advance of Publication. Having said that it can't be long now.

 

Well as this Transport Secretary has a similar development in her back yard ( Alnwick) it will be interesting to see which way the sympathies go...
