Great guide there Steve, well done =D> =D>
There's even a couple of places on there that I hadn't thought of!

    Tim.

  2. I asked and the word from Minehead is "will try" but please, please don't bank on it, esp if the train is late. Remember the shuttle buses run every twenty mins that day so they, too, need to keep to schedule.

The information on which way the locos will face each day is very useful. As the locos will be turned during the day, is the direction of travel given for the start of the first run of the day? :-k

    Thanks. <BJ>

  5. I believe that is correct.

Wonderful day, lovely weather. Lots of passengers and I don't think I have ever seen so many people lineside taking photos.
WSW will no doubt be sorting the pictures as I type for the website.
Looking forward to another visit either Thursday or Saturday (or both) next week.

Keep up the good work Lads & Lasses

I and many others enjoyed a wonderful day at the WSR on Saturday. Superb weather, superb locomotives and stock. A credit to all at the West Somerset Railway. Well done. =D>
Royal Scot, reported elsewhere, sat on a low loader at 18:45 in a layby close to the M5 at Taunton. <BJ>

Great day out on the WSR today. Lovely spring weather, constant blue skys and a brilliant set of very well turned out locomotives. Many thanks to everyone involved.
Just great to see 6024 in wonderful condition on display at williton. Well done to all the 6024 crew and thanks for the tea!
I hope Royal Scot makes it ok. Spotted her on the M5 near Taunton around 8:00pm.
Here are a few pics taken today.[attachment=2:2brtqrgi]34046 Braunton, Minehead. 21.03.09.jpg[/attachment:2brtqrgi]

Immensely enjoyed it, especially Eddystone leaving Bishops Lydeard, and the ascent of Washford Bank behind 34028, 45231 and 60019. Shame about the 20 minute delay that threw the timetable into disarray, but no-one could have predicted that. Despite that, the glorious weather made for a fantastic day out with all engines travelled on looking spotless, and I still managed to get into Bristol for a two-hour pub crawl before my onward journey into West Wales! Congratulations for all concerned.

  15. Made a trip to BL to see Scot on low loader this evening on way home.

    Pics here http://westsomersetrailwaygala.fotopic. ... 70824.html

    More pics up later.

Thanks to everyone who visited the footplate of 6024. It ws nice to see so many people coming and asking about her welfare and for your generous contributions.

    Echo all previous sentiments expressed.
A superb gala today, great organisation, great locos, people etc etc.
Great to hear an A4's whistle echoing around the Somerset countryside.
Braunton's "paint job" absolutely superb, gleaming in the glorious sunshine.
    Well done to all concerned!
Not forgetting 6695 a superb "little" loco not to be outdone by the big guns storming up Washford bank with eight on, Superb!
Good to see Royal Scot at Lydeard, quite a bit of paint damaged to front buffer beam and underneath this area, was told there is some concern about copper pipework etc in this area. Lets all hope she steams next weekend as they are still saying, even if its just up and down light engine movements.
Well done to all the organisers at the WSR, extra catering outlets much appreciated, also additional turntable operations outwith of the published programme.
    Once again another superb effort!
If the King was running plus the Scot, I would suggest it would surely have been one of the best ever!

Looks like a good day. I will be there next weekend and I'm looking forward to that.
Dave, can you tell me if the additional turning of the locos meant that they were facing the opposite direction to what would have been expected or were they turned full circle?
Glad you had a good time.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Just back from a fantastic weekend, mostly spent on the West Country’s. 34028 and 34046 double heading back to Bishops Lydeard certainly capped it all off! A huge thanks to all involved for a lovely weekend. Also a quick mention to the volunteers in the Quantock Belle who passed a record on the 08.25 ex Lydeard on Saturday by selling 57 breakfasts!
Although I was riding all day both days, a selection of shots can be found at:
