Some good progress on GWR 216, the gas lighting system is being completed with pipe runs on the roof and lamps powered by LED lights being installed, and on the exterior the window frames are turning cherry red. The alarm chain run has been completed.

    regards

After much work on the lighting system the pipe runs are now complete and work is in hand to erect the lamps in the compartments.

A milestone on GWR 216 as the lighting system is completed, the new glass globes have also been fitted to the gas lamps. In the meantime 1369 was also out today.

    regards

Do they now have LED innards like the Metropolitan coach?

Yes, that’s correct. LED system designed and encased in original GWR lamps with new globes made to fit. The roof layout has mock “gas pipes” which run into original GWR pepper pot ventilators.

More work on the vintage carriages. After 18 months they will now have to leave the shed next week to allow work on other vehicles but plans are in place to complete the outstanding works so they can enter traffic.

Both carriages are planned to be turned out in plain chocolate and cream (post 1925 livery) with red bolections.

    regards

    Matt

Well it has been a little while since the last post on this thread, but there are a few things in the pipeline in the next few months aside from the usual operations.

on the steam front Haulwen’s chassis is being readied for shot blasting which should happen in the next few weeks. The boiler is being worked on at Flour Mill.

carriage wise some of the MK1’s have been in the shed for roof repaints and other repairs. Work will hopefully restart on the vintage carriages shortly.

On the P Way front the next project is to build the three way point which will control access to the yard at Abergwili Jtn. We are also gearing up for a start on the car park and access road into the Abergwili site which will be a big project and will include a start on the much anticipated carriage shed.

    Regards

    Matt

    Update

work has now commenced in building the giant three way point, which requires 41 timbers! This switch is key to maximising the space available at Abergwili with the layout of the carriage shed in mind.

GWR 216 has re-entered the carriage workshop for more work to the doors and drop lights.

meanwhile 1369 comes out for washout after today with “Moorbarrow” taking over for a couple of weeks before “Oddities” day.

    regards

    Matt

We held the Oddities day today with a few smaller visitors and both steam locos working. Meanwhile in the shed another milestone on GWR 216 as the last doors are fitted after repair, still some adjustment required.

Looking complete, next jobs are to carry on fitting out the compartments internally with upholstery and draught excluders.

More progress, the door frames have been painted Indian red, compartments being upholstered and the seat bases and backs being installed. It’s all coming together, next step is to complete the beading on the outside.

meanwhile 1369 is back in service after washout.

    regards
