erm ........i really dounno how to awnser something i havnt done.

Did i say the MHR spersificaly? No! i mean in general , if everyone was willing to give just an hour a week of there time instead of come on here to do a project of THERE choise . ALOT more could be done , but we all know theres alot of arm chair people round this fourm . Its a shame it drivers the good working people away from the fourm .

Not really , IF things are planned and written up to a great amount of detail and things are submitted properly , then i feel alot can still be done as with more people out of employment , they will have more time ( should they wish to use to to vollenter and not to try to earn some extra cash)

To be honest , its all very well telling me to talk to colin chambers or others who can do something about it , but i dont have the interest in writting up emails to vent other peolpes problems .

If something is suggestted to me via PM which has been fully written up and makes a good argumental read as to there " contrustive cristium " id be happy to send it stright to Chambers , but untill people want to write there own email , i will stand by what i say and that is

Dont moan on here when you know dam well you can cut out the middle man ( national preservation) and email the railway in question directly .

Once again yet another MHR thread descends into pointless squabbling and infighting which does no one any credit

This is a public forum and the thread offers no incentive to the casual visitor to go to the MHR

No other railway represented on here has so much bickering amongst those claiming to be part of it as the MHR

Id actully like to add that i gave a sesnible reply i thought and should anyone consider themselfs giving constructive cristisium , my offer is still open . Seeing as i have yet to recivce any PM's i take it that i was correct in thinking people are happy to moan but not moan to the right people .

Its all very well saying this is a public fourm and all that but at the same time , i think therres 7 pages of

" why dont they do this that and the other"
" then go tell the people who matter"
" id like to complain on here though"
"yes but go complain to the ones who want to listern"

Its very well saying the MHR ( no not the MHR , the indivals that work at the MHR and dont speak for the MHR itself) are always the ones having a go at everyone , but if you look back , on this topic its actully us trying to get the info to the right people but everyone seems very happy to just put the MHR down becuse there ( the NP experts) to lazy to actully write an email or letter.

To much to ask for i guess.

Heartily agree, frankly it's embarrasing, and some from people who don't have age as a defence. It's a real shame as this weekend we'll have some really well turned out Loco's, courtesy of some of the people that have 'contributed' to this thread but that same care and attention isn't being shown when it comes to how our line is respresented here. We'll also have some cracking wagons out and about on the line courtesy of Chris Willis (CCT Man) and his team which really are a credit to them and the line, but for some people on here he'll just be the guy who takes every opportunity to take cheap shots at the Bluebell, which is a real shame.

On the other hand, I really do think most people have enough intelligence to base their decision to visit on something more than a web forum but certainly agree it doens't help the cause. Which is a real shame as it looks like it will be a good event, I wish the missus was a little more happy for me to spend the entire weekend on the line so I could partake as a visitor but I'll have to make do with what Sunday throws at me.

If I hear criticism of, or ideas for, my railway while I am on duty and I am unable to assist immediately, I will forward people's concerns to the 'management' for the development of my railway.

If I hear criticism of, or ideas for, my railway while I am elsewhere and I am unable to assist immediately, I will forward people's concerns to the 'management' for the development of my railway.

NatPres is no different to either of these; if people are coming forward with ideas or suggestions, then don't rely on other people to forward these suggestions. Grab the bull by the horns and say something, it can only take the time it takes to draft an email to make a difference.

Quite right Martin, much of what these, ( I will not say the word), could be chatting off line or as a pm.

These people are an enbarrasment and a disgrace to the railway acting like children, sadly they are just that ,children ,so please do not tar us all with the same brush please.

BTW are you coming to the Freight chater a week on Saturday?, if you are do drop in to see our progress at medstead?. A warm welcome and a cup of tea await you.

    Best Wishes
    Chris Willis

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in the weather for this coming weekend but there is a link for the weather for the Alresford area. It maybe a help to people to decide what day to come.

I think some people need to adapt an old World War 2 slogan; 'Is your post really necessary?'

Back to the gala...being really dull, what coaching stock is likely to be in use over the weekend? Is the Bulleid brake in traffic at the moment?

The Bulleid brake was in traffic the other week so it should be out. I was also told that the Wine and Dine set with "Eagle" kitchen car from the Bluebell should also be in service over the weekend. The rest of the coaches in service over the gala will be MK1 stock.

Is the Pressflo anywhere where it can be photographed at close quarters this weekend please, I have a couple of kits waiting to be built.
    Thanks

Also quoted by CCT Man on this thread
PMV,s and CCT,s are to be attached to service trains just like the old days and smaller vans will be attached to the shuttles, a mixed train if you like.

It,s at Alton I,m afraid right in the far corner being worked on as the vacuum cylinders are being taken off for re-furbishment.

If you have a PTS you could ask one of the staff to take you over there?. The names of the guys working there are Ian Johnson and Geoff Hacket.

Hope this helps and apologies that I cannot be more helpfull than this.

    Best Regards

I don't want to re-open a wound, but I think that the reason that the WTT never has the loco workings on them is that the Ops Manager likes to ring the changes. Look at this way, if you were lineside in the 60s you never knew what you would get next. Last year the KWVR lads visiting with their Ivatt thought it was very strange too. They commented at the start of the day that their gala's were planned to the nth detail in advance. By the end of the day they were enjoying the cut and thrust of the changes. It may not be to every spectator's taste, but it makes it interesting on the footplate.

I take the point about the potential for extra money though.

I have a little more information regarding the loco roster: the plan is that Friday (today) and Sunday will be the same:

Met 1 and 41312 sharing the Alton Shuttles, with Met 1 starting from Alton on the 1017 and 41312 starting from Ropley on the 1037.
Well Tank on the Alresford Shuttles.
Full-line trains change engines at both ends. Nellie and Std 5 start from Alton working the 1000 and 1101 respectively. Wadebridge and Bittern start from Alresford working the 1010 and 1113 respectively. The sequence then runs: 34007 - 60019 - 850 - 73096 - 34007 ... for the rest of the day.

Saturday is the same pattern except that 850 and 73096 start from Alresford, in that order, and 34007 and 60019 start from Alton, in that order. Likewise, 41312 starts on the 1017 ex-Alton and Met 1 starts on the 1037 ex-Ropley.

The shuttle loco that finishes at Alton attaches to the rear of the 1700 and is detached at Ropley.

Subject to all the usual caveats about "subject to availability" etc.

    Brilliant - thanks Steamage.

Are there going to be any double-headers (or better) on Saturday, I wonder ...
