    Chris,

I've just found this on the MHR website. Is this the sort of welcoming committee that mods can expect this weekend?

    Hi richard:

I don,t think there will be as many as that this weekend as three have gone to Alton to take off the vacuum cylinders on the nearly completed Presflo and some of the members have their Basingstoke Modellers Railway Club AGM this Saturday too.

However those that are there will make you more than welcome with a cup of tea, a biscuit of two and possibly a trip to Rumours cafe in Medstead for lunch if the timing is right. There will of course be a tour of what we are doing so please remember your Hi-Viz please?, although in the photo I am the one without the Hi-Viz on , (typical).

    Loolking forward to meeting you.

    Best regards
    Chris.

ps, Just ask one of the station staff to point you in my direction.

Its not though is it , people would rather come to Nat Pres and have a go at the people who cant change how the railway is run ( in the sence of , we are the smaller people , not the likes of colin chambers and the higher ups )

So in the 10 minuits it took for lewis to make the complaint and comments on what time should he should up , he could have spent 5 minuits , written an email to Colin Chambers , Bob Deeth or who ever it is he felt the email should go to and thousands of people would have benifitted....

So no chris , i dont think its about exhanging of ideas and having your say on here , its about getting out the " ill have a moan " chair and getting an email opened and something constructive typed up .

    Mitchell[/quote:anuuibps]

Thing is Mitch I havnt got a "I,ll have a moan chair".
All I have is a constructive chair and one that am willing to get out of and share ideas for the good of railways

Maybe you could enlighten me with your expert knowledge and let me know where i could find one of these "moan" chairs?

I made a couple of enquiries by e-mail yesterday afternoon about the public version of the timetable. Everyone was very apologetic about it not being ready yet. Simply a matter of too much to do and not enough people to do it. Absolutely no intention to put anyone off nor to make people pay for it in advance.

Someone asked yesterday about light engine moves. The locos for the full-line trains are booked off Ropley at 08:52 to Alton and 09:14 to Alresford, but these moves tend to be "go when ready", so take these as a guide only. Light engine for the Alresford shuttle follows the first down train at about 10:35. If all goes to plan (big "if"), the last light engine should be back on shed before 18:00.

A few things to note about the shuttle trains:
    * In the down direction, the Alton shuttle waits at Medstead for 19 minutes to cross two up trains. ("Up" = towards London).
    * The Alresford shuttle leaves Alresford before the full-line train, even though it is shown further to the right in the timetable.
    * The shuttle trains all run to and from platform 2 at Ropley (the down platform) and are berthed in Ropley yard between trips, to allow the full-line trains to pass in Ropley station. It's going to be a VERY busy station during the gala!

OK - the timetable is up so that's progress of sorts. Now what's the chance of getting hold of a loco roster / WTT on the day?

I'm sure we have this debate at every gala! The loco allocations are normally available on the day but never in advance. As far as I know the loco details are only finalised the night before.

The public aren't going to get rosters or WTTs, end of. You can however look at the website where their is a running list and public timetable.

Well I actually find the loco rosters useful for planning the day in advance and I'm sure others do. Furthermore isn't the railway missing a trick by not publishing some kind of souvenir guide and selling it? I'd be happy to pay a couple of quid for something if it gives me the information I want.

I hate to tell you this but at no point in any post i have ever made i have clamined to be an expert . i cant see contructive crisitum on a fourm helpfull though , its just a moan to people who are willing to moan back .

If it was constructive cristisum , you would have worred it differantly , by passed Nat pres and gone stright to the people on the MHR who orginise that sort of thing.

Erm no Mitch it wasn,t ,this was only done after Lee had put forward the suggestion.

It would appear that you are jumping on the back of other people,s suggestions.

No offence to you and I still want that lump of coal \:D/

    Mich

Please and this is said nicely, as have other posts...

It was a constructive remark, trying to help and suggest good PR ideas that members of the MHR could take back to those higher up the chain.

I couldnt email said persons as I dont have their email addresses

Whatever the should have beens or didn't happens, everyone who does go to this event can rest assured that everyone involved will, as usual, be working their butts off to make it as enjoyable as possible. I'm not working it this year but I know that those that are involved will try damned hard to make it a good event for everyone.
