Shall I arrive at 8:00am to catch a train, or shall I arrive at 11:00am. What time will I be home if I want a full day on the line? Will I leave the railway off the last train at 8:00pm, 5:00pm or 11:00pm. Is there only one train running or plenty of trains? Is it going to be worth making the effort to attend? If this timetable is good why not tell everyone and perhaps more people will be tempted to attend. There is simply no excuse for not publishing "opening times" or more importantly first and last trains as a minimum if the railway wants it to be successful.

Your point is taken although there is nothing that can be done on this forum, so why not write to Colin Chambers sayng exactly what you have said here?.

I have a feeling your letter will not be ignored.

    Best regards

If I can remember correctly the first train off Alton is 10.00, but don't quote me on that.

The timetable has a shuttle between Ropley and Alresford, Fast services between Alton - Alresford, Semi Fast and Local services.

Maybe one reason why there is no timetable available at this monent in time is you may need to buy a ticket to receive one. You can but tickets on the MHR web site in ADVANCE of the gale at https://www.watercressonline.co.uk/section.php?xSec=42 or you can buy tickets on the day.

So the railway wants you to part with hard earnd cash for something that they wont tell you about.... :-k

May I make a suggestion that the railway advertises the timetable at least 7 days in advance.
If they did that they would find that the weekend is more successful which could make the difference between a profit or a loss.

A few years ago I went to a gala at the GWSR and I was told if I wanted a timetable I need to buy a ticket or I had to pay a £1 to get a time table.
    :-k :-k :-k :-k

Putting a steam gala on isn't cheep. Look at the Bluebell this year no freight train running at their gala.

Trust me. I fully understand that putting on a gala isnt cheap.
But i believe in this day and age the more you promote and plug a gala the more of a chance you have of breaking even and or making a profit.

By putting out a timetable in advance you are going to attract more punters who are going to spend their money on tickets, food and drinketc.

The MHR is my nearest railway and by not letting the timetable be known I wonder how may others could be put off.
Now I,m not saying that I wont go but i would be more keen to go if i knew what i was going to see.
If its just a 9 - 5 gala with a near normal timetable then forget it. N.F.I.

As I have said before, your point is taken, in fact I think we all take the point.

But until you have put this to the powers that be at the Railway with your constructive critiscism, and you get no reply, then I can only say it comes over as whinging.

    No offence to you.
    Regards
    Chris Willis

    No offence taken Chris.....

Not whinging but constructive critiscism from someone who has organised successful galas.

Well done Lee, very good idea.

IMHO this what a forum like this is all ,about exchanging of ideas and having your say.

It can only be a benefit to the Preservation movement as a whole.

    Best Regards

Hi Chris thanks. The more people that ask about the timetable the more chance it's got of being published on the web site for everyone.

Ps Hope to see you on Saturday.

Its not though is it , people would rather come to Nat Pres and have a go at the people who cant change how the railway is run ( in the sence of , we are the smaller people , not the likes of colin chambers and the higher ups )

So in the 10 minuits it took for lewis to make the complaint and comments on what time should he should up , he could have spent 5 minuits , written an email to Colin Chambers , Bob Deeth or who ever it is he felt the email should go to and thousands of people would have benifitted....

So no chris , i dont think its about exhanging of ideas and having your say on here , its about getting out the " ill have a moan " chair and getting an email opened and something constructive typed up .

But without this shall we call it "heated conversation" Mitch , nothing would have been done would it Mitch?, because we have all talked for want of a better word, we have acheived exactly want we wanted , and that is a working timetable for the benefit of all.

So I have to disagree with you there, but hey thats democracy so don,t forget to throw me a lump of coal on Saturday will you?.

    Besr regards
    Chris

i shell be more then happy to throw you a lump of coal , do i aim for the face or between the legs? hmmmmm

But i dounno , yes alot of things arnt done till some people complain about said subject and that is when things start to happen , but i dont actully think anyone emailed in to just asked for a WTT or for it to be put onto the site , i think things like this would be done quicker should the "heatted converstation" be left out , but thats a personal view on things .
