Indeed and going off at an angle. RTT put together a decidedly tongue in cheek timetable for the Great Man. Starting and finishing at North Pole Junction/depot [one time home to UK based Eurostar trains] visiting as many as possible stations and extremities of the National Network.

Methinks the late Prof.Hawking might've given the fat man a good run for his money on that front. That'll upset Elon! :)

Might give some ideas to those who want to restore engine 488 to active service.

Apparently Ronnie Pickering was named after the NYMR served town where he was conceived :)

Not knowing your age, had your parents adopted such a Beckham-esque philosophy, that would suggest some happy memories of one place from a list of possibilities comprising Brighton, Plaistow, Tilbury, Old Oak Common, Croes Newydd, Machynlleth, Barry or Swanage! ;)

A new trainee driver on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway scores highly!

Has anyone got that piccie of HMQ, grinning from ear to ear, in the cab of a 15in gauge loco around 15 years ago?

Of course there are various members of the Royal Family who have visited a mired of heritage lines up and down the land. Princess Anne has even had a go on one of these "Footplate" experience events that many lines have run.I think it was on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.........

Driving or firing? I could easily imagine her doing either.

It was indeed on the GWSR. It was on a day when the railway was not running a public service. The loco was Black Prince, and her Royal Highness was a guest of the owner, David Shepherd.

When she opened the Havenstreet carriage works she was filmed waving the green flag to despatch the train.

She also renamed E850 Lord Nelson after restoration in Eastleigh Works.
