For any loco, steam or diesel, to be able to gain a certificate for over 75mph, hard wired high intensities must be installed and I’m sure must be air braked. With battery operated HID lights, 75mph is the limit regardless, but 10% seems to be a given leeway.
Yes 35028 has hard wired lights and is also air braked, but I’m unaware of anything to suggest that 75mph doesn’t remain its limit.

And probably not hauling MK1s either unless something has changed from when 60163 was running at 90 a few years ago.

All this stuff about steam having limits over 75 is myth I am afraid. In the case of 28, in common with other locos she is limited to 75, as of course are the Pullmans.

Of course it is - and it's merely fuelled by those who think they know what they're talking about, rather than those who actually do.

The Standards that relate to steam have, as will all Standards, been published by RSSB, so if you really need to find out what the criteria are, you can. Suffice to say, most locos, which meet the criteria, are registered to run at up to 75mph but actual train timings are normally worked out to a maximum 60, allowing for suitable recovery, if required. Equally, that does not mean to say that all loco owners wish to see their steeds thrashed to within an inch of their capabilities.

The master stopwatch men might care to remember that occasionally.

Just to be absolutely correct, Clan Line is not air braked. It has an air pump and controls for working air braked trains but otherwise it’s the same as it was in BR days, the loco is steam braked and the tender is vacuum.

35028's front lights always pleasantly surprise me for their lack of intensity compared to almost all others on today's railway.

Yes, the technical aspect of the zooming was fine, but I always lose a sense of speed when the camera zooms out (or in) almost in pace with the approach/recession. Not a criticism, just my personal take - as I said, each to their own.
