The FR and WHR(C) haven't announced anything special yet - but does anyone know of any plans on other lines in the area on the Bank Holiday?

    Corris: has horse-hauled trains: http://www.corris.co.uk/2009events.htm
    Talyllyn: normal 5 trip service
    WHR(P): Easter Bunnies http://www.whr.co.uk/index.php?pid=19
Fairbourne: 5 or 8 train service
    Llanberis: Easter Bunnies http://www.lake-railway.co.uk/news.html

Sounds like Corris is worth a visit.

It may be that the FfR will run some 'Y Cymro's to T-Y-B and perhaps have a ride an engine, I think this is what happend last year.

Re: Easter NG events in NW Wales - Corris 150

The horse-hauled trains at Corris are part of the Corris 150 celebrations - the first train on what was then the Corris Machynlleth & River Dovey Tramroad ran on 1st April 1859. A gravity run is planned on the actual anniversary and demonstration horse-hauled trains over the Easter weekend. May 9th will mark the official opening of the new carriage shed.

Although the Talyllyn can't offer any special event as such, the five train service will see three locomotives in steam each day, and some railways would call that a gala! As an incentive to come and visit us 2009 will be your last chance to see/ride behind/photograph one of our original locomotives No.2 Dolgoch for a while, as the loco will be withdrawn for an extensive overhaul in 2010. I can't guarantee it will be used over Easter just yet but there is every chance...

There is also the Narrow Gauge Museum within the new Wharf station building which is well worth a visit if you haven't seen it since the revamp in 2004, and we are not far away from Corris if you want to combine your visit to them with us.

Couldn't agree more with that.... the museum is quite something. I would also recomend a meal at the cafe next door too.... Wharf is a very calm, pleasant and welcoming place to visit.

    Thanks chaps.

We're definitely down for the Talyllyn, Corris and Fairbourne then. The NG Museum is one that I've been wanting to get to for a long time.

Will also be making a beeline for the (not railway themed) but amazing garden model village in Corris - "Little Italy". Last time I visited it was in quite good nick; hopefully it's still there.

Y Cymro, is the 60s train name for a non-stop Port to T-Y-B run, they were running last year with the headboard, they seemed quite popular last year which is why I'd expect them this year, but we'll have to wait for the release of the leaflet.

Oh no you won't... they're not running this year. You'll probably get the 1215 and 1515 Minffordd Vintage Shuttles on 'Red' timetable days though...

I'll be up at the Corris on Easter Sunday & Monday and would be happy to show forum members round the new shed if anyone is interested, will need to double check with the Chairman on the day but pretty sure it'd be fine. I'm also sure any first time visitors would agree the Corris is among the most friendly lines around!

Send me a message nearer the time if interested...
